Roberto Wallace and Marlon Moore......

ginn did have some drops but u quite exaggerate them. I have no clue if gates will be better than Ginn but the odds are against it.

How are the odds against it???? Com'on man, you know damn well Ginn was a drop machine. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. Sure he can be an explosive return man, but as a receiver, he couldn't catch to save his life most of the time.

truth be told, Ginn needed to get out of Miami. THe fact is, he lost all of his confidence here and the coaches/players lost confidence in him. In SanFran all he has to do is be a return man and not a WR.

And he could have never been just a return man here, he needed a change of scenery and change of expectation.

Am I the only one who dreads seeing any former Dolphin play well for another team, just because I know I'll see multiple threads on here acting like we made a mistake in letting them go no matter how bad they were here and how much we needed a different skill set at their position?

we made a mistake in getting rid of ginn just like we made a mistake drafting him too high. he had alot of piotential to be a top returnman. Returns are where he could be special

Well his career return average before today was 22 yards, about 5 yards less than anything close to being "special" as a return man. He had more potential but it's taken him a long time to show it, and 9/10 of his returns was and are worse than what any other player could do if you just gave them the ball and told them to run.

In the world of professional sports, its better to get rid of a guy who has been starting for 3 years than demote someone and have them around as a distraction.

One game (two, if you wanna count the Jets game), does not make him a top return man YET. He could be a very good return man, but he's done this before. One great game in returns, and he disappears for the rest of the year. Still too early to tell if it's a mistake.

the odds are against any 4th round pick surpassing those numbers .look at hartline he is currently averaging 37 cathes a year

I say its a mistake because he was a useful player for his speed and return ability. No he is not a number one guy but he could have been helpful in a backup role one which we never tried him in.

Ginn dropped more touchdowns than he caught and on top of that, if a defender got within 5 yards of him, he'd fall on the ground and piss himself like an abused schoolgirl. Is he a good returner? Yes, awesome, but we needed a number one wide receiver. Not a returner with super speed and no balls.

ok... but even the ppl who are down on him agree he is an amazing returner...

Was it really worth it to trade away an amazing returner for a late round pick?? He would have made this team ahead of moore or wallace for sure...

Isn't Gates filling that role now?? And I don't think Ginn is a top returner in the league. He's had 2 awesome games in returns but besides that he hasn't done a whole lot. Remember all the times he run out of bounds on kick offs??

personally i thought he should have been used as a punt returner more. So is gates the return guy i think its bess and carrol. I dont see gates with any more potetnial than Ginn , Ginn still has a lot of potential mainly as a return man but u dont draft potential number 9 overall. I like gates as a prospect but seriously people are really expecting way too much of him.

Ginn is #2 in return touchdowns over the past 5 seasons... only person ahead of him is hester (the all time leader) Ginn is a few TD's away from being #2 ALL TIME RETURN TOUCHDOWNS. And he's in his 5'th year. think about that for a second... He's already got as many as Dante hall had his entire career.

Ginn had a chance to be the best returner to ever wear a dolphins uniform. He WOULD have made this team over wallace or moore. we never tried him as anything but a #1 receiver, with teams focusing to stop him.

People saying he dropped every pass are just plain lying. I remember ginn making some great catches and honestly our Quarterbacks at the time were garbage, there were many balls where he had to literally stop and turn around to make the catch, since they were so severely underthrown... as for last year with SF, i'm pretty sure he was hurt a lot of the year? Not to mention SF's qb situation might be worse than ours was back then...

Terrell Owens (3rd round), Cris Carter, Andre Reed, Steve Largent, Charlie Joiner, Derek Mason, Don Maynard (9th round), Rod Smith (undrafted), Keenan McCardell (13th round), Harold Jackson (12th round)....all those receivers were drafted in the 4th round or later except for Owens. All those receivers finished their careers or are continuing their careers with 10,000 plus yards receiving.
