NE is close to signing Flutie.. and people up in NE are saying that they might get rid of Davey..

I think Saban would pick him up as a developmental guy in a second.

I guess it would depend on what it would take to get him here.

If Saban likes him all for it. :D

I believe there was a rumor floating around that Romeo was looking at trading for him around draft time. Maybe now that they have Frye they won't be interested anymore.

i dont like Rohan Davey he doesnt look to be that good

have you ever seen Davey play? I'm guessing not...

he's been the backup to Brady for a few years now, and was NFL Europe MVP last year I believe.

Skape, Rohan would not be coming in as a "developmental" guy. He's been the #2 for a couple years in NE. He'd immediately come in as one of the backups, if not eventually winning the starting job. Brock is developmental, a guy thats been stuck behind Brady is not.

That said, they are signing Flutie to be the 3rd string, not the backup

Just to add to that, I'm not really crazy about the idea. If he gets cut, then we might as well give him a look, but I don't think I want to trade for another backup. It's about time we bring in a guy who's our guy from day one. I think now that the draft is done, we give Feeley a chance, and if he doesn't work out, we look towards the draft next year. It'd be nice if we could find a way to get an extra first next year. LT's are thick and there should be some good QB's as well.

I think if Saban gets a chance at Davey as a FA, he will get him.

I'm not crazy about Davey. I thought he was incredibly overrated in college. I had him on my bust list for that year's prospects. He did well in NFLE, but so did many QBs who weren't good enough for the NFL. I haven't seen him play for NE (maybe once in garbage time, but that's it) If he's cut, bring him in for a min. contract, but I would not be in favor of trading for him.

I don't know enough about Davey but I do know that he can't be worse than Berlin. I am a big Hurricane fan as well and Berlin sucks! He couldn't hit the side of a barn. Anyone who thinks he is more than camp fodder is crazy. He has almost zero shot at even being a backup in the NFL and that's if he has some major improvement. At least Davey has kept the backup role so he must have some talent.

Come on guys, now its Davey.I would throw my hat againest the wall if we sign Davey. We need to sign Ronnie 1st.

I just read today on ESPN's site that Flutie was in talks with the Giants

belichick is supposedly a guru at what he does...i don't know why he'd release a guy he thought had great potential or was already good. the smart thing to do is get him snaps which increases his trade value.
