Ron Brown will not be starter this year

If Brown ends up being a 3rd down back, he will be the biggest bust in Dolphins history. Yes, bigger than Avery, Milner, Kumerow, YGreen, etc. Those guys were taken in the back end of the first round. If you look at the NFL trade value chart, the no. 2 pick is worth about 4 no. 24 picks. Excluding guys who got injured, can you think of a top 5 pick RB in history who was unable to crack the starting lineup?

Well said. This thread is a load of horse crap. He may be in that role for now as he learns the offense, but you don't even have to think, to understand that that is not a long term plan for him.

Similar thinking:
Hey next year let's trade up to make sure we get Leinehart, so we have a good solid third string QB for the future!!!!

He was called Sweet Feet when he first came to Auburn because of all the juking he did and was not able to hit the holes quickly.

Wow, that's news to me and I have followed Auburn football since 1973...:shakeno:
Bills fan???

Ronnie Brown probably will start, and I think Ricky will be getting carries later in the season to ease Ronnie's first season. I think Ricky will be the change of pace back, once he's done with his suspension, not Ronnie. Ricky is basically a rookie too, he seen what he did a few seasons ago, but he's not the same back he was a few seasons ago.

Bills fan most likely.

Yep, followed AU all my life. Ronnie Brown never had a nickname in college until his senior year and I even went to the practices a lot. In fact, the opposite is true about Brown. Early in his career, he was criticized for not being shifty enough because he would always hit the whole with such authority and speed. He thought he could just run over people, but once he adjusted he made a lot people miss in college. I think you will see the same process happen in the NFL. He can make people miss plenty at any level but that does not need to be his strength.

Ronnie loves to bust the big run and that requires hitting the whole with speed and power. If Ronnie Brown does not hit the whole then there is no whole and that means the Dolphin O-line is not doing a very good job of run blocking yet. JMHO.

Ron "Sweet Feet" Brown will be used as a 3rd down back and as a slot reciever with Ricky (after suspension) being the number one guy. "Sweet Feet" has trouble finding holes and making instinctive decisions that Ricky does, but looks great receiving and in the open field. Until he becomes more accustomed to the faster NFL game, he will not be our #1 back.

Sorry Floppsi but we did not sign Ronnie Brown to sit the bench or to be a backup. That was something Wanny would have done in the previous regime. I think Saban is a little smarter than that. You don't draft a 1st round second pick running back who makes big bucks to be a backup. This isn't college this is the NFL. It doesn't work like that.
Saban Drafted Ronnie to be a starter and thats what I envision him to be . Even with Ricky back . because we all know Ricky is not all that excited about carrying the rock.

Dolphinphan-the man who wants David Boston, spindly knees and all at tight end. 45 posts and your butt is toast. You STFUA!!!

I have to agree. I do not see Brown coming in and being a full-time starter. Mind you I think he will be given plenty of times to carry the rock, and may officially be the starter (player lined up at HB on the first play of the game). But I do not think he will receive the majority of the carries, until he can prove he is ready for the NFL game.

Agree, brown hurt himself by holding out, Sam will be the co starter until RW comes back!

Hey Oboy and Saban4Prez, hear this man out. Any rookie running back has the problems this man is talking about, and with a very talented veteran on hand it would be foolish to play the rookie, possibly injure the rookie or have him lose confidence. I truly believe the Dolphins got stuck with Ronnie, because of his physical attributes at #2. It was supposedly a no brainer. However Caddy is a much better instinctive runner, and so is Cedric Benson. Ronnie's game of running over defenders to make holes doesn't translate to the NFL, just ask Greg Jones FB not RB for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The same guy that didn't carry the ball once in the preseason game against the Dolphins, the same guy essentially behind supposedly less talented college backs Alexis and Wimbush. Vision is paramount for a RB, then the physical attributes come in.

Could not have said it any better.
Ronnie will see plenty of time in the backfeild
BUT Ricky will be the starter (once he returns) and ronnie will split the time with Ricky. Keep in mind that by the end of the season RIcky will have about 25% more carries then Ronnie. and you will see ronnie with plenty of catches too. Lets face it Ricky is the better runner of the 2 for the pro game. I'm not saying that ronnie is not a good back. Just Ricky is better RIGHT NOW. For you guys to say that Ronnie is better then Ricky then your saying ronnie is just as good as Priest / Edge / or LaDa If you think so then your crazy  . HE HAS YET TO TAKE 1 NFL CARRY. 1 NFL CARRY. and you guys are compairing him to a pro bowl back:confused: .

What an amazing insight you have, and you calculated all this before Ronnie Brown ever logged a single carry in a game for the Dolphins?

My hats off to you Sir!

what the crap are some of you people talking about??? RB is one of the easiest positions to come in and make an immediate impact, and R.B. is/was the #2 overall draft pick. If he doesn't come in and recieve a hug bulk of the carries from day 1, then there is seriously something wrong
:shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno:
What are you talking about
tell that to the following #1 / 2# round running backs
Garrison Hearst
Greg Hill
Errict Rhett
Check Levy
Charlie Gardner
Mario Bates
Ki Jana Carter (injury)
Tyrone Wheatly
Napoleon Kaufman
James Stewart
Rashaan Salaam
Ray Zellars
Sherman Williams
Terrell Fletcher
Lawrence Phillips
Tim Biakabutuka
Leeland Mcelroy
Antwain Smith (SB Ring)
Curtis Enis
John Avery (yeah we drafted him - where is he now)

Every single 1 of these Guys where GREAT college backs. All had great Physical tools. It does not add up to the NFL game

THINK fellas. I want Ronnie to be a Hall OF Famer just as bad as the next gut but it takes a little time.
