hey fellas...just joined. huge fan from nj, i come down to a couple games a year and go on the road for a couple. gkad to meet you and look forward to the banter

:welcome: and enjoy

Its gonna be interesting how Saban handles it, even this year..

I mean, if Ricky returns to form by week 5 or 6, and Ronnie is perform...well...like a rookie can (less that stellar at times) I don't doubt that Saban is the type of coach that will hesitate to make the switch.

Good for the current season, but not good for the #2 overall.

Ronnie Brown is the most unselfish player on the dolphins. All he cares about is the W.

Did you mean that Saban WOULDN'T hesitate to switch? or WOULD hesitate to switch. I assume you meant wouldn't hesitate and your right. But I really don't think it would be a full out "switch". If Ronnie struggles and Ricky is playing well, then Saban should lessen his load, not just bench him.

You got this from mini camp..?..

He could be a great guy, and I know he split carries ...IN COLLEGE!

When people start making money, getting incentives, going to probowls, getting on magazines, things change.

I guarantee that if Ricky has a couple great games, is all over the media, cover of SI and ESPN.com Ronnie will not be happy. He shouldn't be, they don't draft you #2 overall to play second fiddle to the prodigal son of the fins. Sorry.

Are they going to be able to coexist beyong 2005 if they have too?

While Ronnie is a rookie, he won't mind having Ricky around, but say you can't find a trade for him, will Ronnie want to split carries with Ricky, taking away from his numbers, there by limiting his oppourtunities to suceed? It could cost him pro-bowls if he turns out to be a good back.

Would you let Ricky go instead of making Ronnie unhappy?

well he did at lsu and hadno prob;)

Again, thats college... Plus that teams was all about running. Way more than any NFL team.

I'm just saying, running backs need to be the man, they need carries and rythem to suceed.

I would like to see Ricky help Ronnie as much as he can this year and then we can say goodbye to Ricky. I mean ronnie is going to be the future of this franchise IMHO. So let this be a learning year and then use ricky as trade bait.

ricky wont be trade bait next year either because look at edge ,alexander henry they couldnt a 2nd or 3rd 4 them ricky will retire a fin

As long as we win everyone will be fine. But once we start losing, something might change. The minute Ronnie is unhappy, I'd send Ricky packing. Even though I want both of them on the field at the same time.

I think thats part of the reason we took ronnie brown and not say, cedric benson. Because Ronnie is a humble guy who doesn't need to be the man. He just wants to be a football player. Saban is looking for unselfish players to pave the way for this franchise. And Taking ronnie was probably his first step at doing that. Also, i don't think Ricky will be doing much for this team, so no, i don't think they'll even have to coexist.

If Ricky comes out and performs, gets 4.5 YPC in a limited role, pounds some in for TD's he could get you a draft pick...

It would be hard though, only because he could quit again at any time, a team may not want to risk it.

probably not b/c egoes usually get in the way

true but the way ricky put it he said he could give the fins 2 2000 yard seasons that he had that left in him so im thinking after those 2 seasons r up he will retire as a dolphin

...and I keep laughing at those who say Ronnie couldn't win the starting position in college and call him a backup

:shakeno:

...and tell me again, when did Ricky get 2000 yards???

Ricky started his freshman year with the longhorns, Ronnie was a backup the season before he was drafted....

Auburn went 11-0 and probably should have won the national championship this year if the BCS wasn't so terrible. How good were the longhorns exactly when ricky was playing for them?
