Ronnie Brown Slow?

Ronnie is fine. His burst is fine. His vision is fine.

My gosh! It's so obvious that most of you have never played football before.

Miami's rushing struggles have a lot more to do with going against an 8 man front than it has to do with either Ronnie Brown or the OL at this point. Today, the Dolphins made the Broncos pay for stacking the line against the run.

Was waiting for this to be pointed out. His YPC was hurt by the fact that on numerous occassions he was wrapped up in the backfield. He made something out of nothing many times.

He didnt look like a polished veteran but hes not. He will be fine. O and BTW of course he lacked the burst Ricky has...i think everyone in the leauge lacks that.

Yep, I agree many people here have never played a down, Ronnie looked good. He's going to be an outstanding NFL back period.

ronnie didnt have any holes to run through!!!!!!!! on the few plays where he got away he was fast........give the line some time and it will make hin look faster

umm, there werent many holes for ronnie to run through..but he did hesitate a little, but it was his FIRST game

Ronnie did not look good today. minor and Morris had holes to run through. Ronnie was dancing all afternoon in the backfield instead of hitting th ehole. It is too early to judge him, he will learn to hit the hole, and then we can judge him. But to say he looked good is wrong, he didnt.

Yea, Ronnie did look slow today. He's a rookie, he didn't have a full camp and it's his first game. Also, the OL didn't give him huge holes exactly. Give him a few games to get it going. It's easy for some rookies who play on a team where the OL opens highways. Ronnie will come around and so will the OL, and it will be icing on the cake once Ricky comes back too :)

I really don't think I would use the word outstanding. He is gonna be a pounder. He is not gonna be a guy that makes two guys miss and then accelerate past the secondary. He is not a LT type, more of a Bus type. Does he now, or will he ever have Ricky speed, quickness, or acceleration?? No he won't, but he can wear out a defense in the 2nd half. This is what we did today and once Ricky comes back I can see Ricky in the first half and then bringing in Ronnie in the 2nd to protect a lead and put the other team away.
He will be a solid player for us, but I have never thought he was a back worth 20 milliion. I still don't, and the more I see him play I doubt I ever will. He is what he is, and I think the coaching staff can use what he brings to the table. He will never put up 1800 yards.

DEN was geared up all day to stop the run with 8 and 9 man fronts...They challenged our passing game and Gus and the O-Line came through....Wait till teams start respecting our passing game more and Ronnie will light it up!

I totally agree

Did anybody else get the impression that Ronnie Brown lacks the initial burst that Ricky has?

Ronnie may end up being a good back, but RWilliams is far better than him right now. One thing I do remember about RB's in this league, you pretty much have it or you don't from the start. I think he showed some elusiveness, but he's no where close to the quickness Ricky has.

did you guys even watch the game..they had 9 pple on the line for most of the game and when minor and morris were in there, you could tell that they werent expecting the run

This is what I've been saying. The man has NO vision.

Ronnie will make the catch. Ronnie will pick up the blitz. Ronnie will get the 1st down on 3rd and 1. Those expecting Tomlinson like running ability may be disappointed. He won't be an LT type, but he is gonna be solid in all areas, and we won't be complaining about the pick in the years to come.

Four things to ease the mind:

1. Ronnie did great on blitz pickups and showed his catching ability on that one handed third down play.

2. If your going to point to Carnell's 140 yds today, realize that he was having the same day as Ronnie stat wise until a 70yd run with two minutes left in a game considered over straight through an open hole for a bee-line to the endzone.

3. Watch the game again, Ronnie made something out of nothing on more than one occasion.

4. Go look at a the stats of a rookie Rb like LT who also had high expectations, he only had four 100yd games his rookie year, and many games rushing stat wise similiar to Ronnie's performance today.
