Ronnie Brown vs. Terrell Owens

I hate to say it but i think they are both right and the teams are wrong. TO should be paid like a top 3 WR cause he is a top 3 WR and Ronnie should be paid like the #2 pick cause he is the #2 pick i dont see what is so wrong with either situation
 
TO agreed to it just a year ago, and its not like all of a sudden he became great, he and everyoene else knew what he was capable of, yet he signed that contract knowing hed have a usual pro bowl year... s othen he goes out and has that pro bowl year and now wants more money... then he shouldn't have agreed to it the previous year...

ronnie is just asking the market value set by the other teams who have signed their high picks (caddy and alex smith)...

Owens 100% wrong?? He is one of the top 3 recievers in the NFL, arguably number 1, got his team to the Superbowl last year yet he isnt even getting paid in the top 10 at his position. Yet you will side with someone who has never played a down in the NFL??

TO has a big contract and wants more. Ronnie Brown is still negotiating the best deal he can get. There is no comparison at all :rolleyes:
 
Basically, T.O. has a contract and Ronnie doesn't. That's what it comes down to for me.

Its written into every NFL contract that they can be cut due to performance, or salary cap. (if the players don't like it, get a different job)

Heres the deal with TO...

He screwed up becomeing a FA (technically his agent, but who hired his agent)

He wouldn't sign with Baltimore, further complicating things

He demanded to go to the Eagles, and he got what he wanted.

Now... he signed a multi year deal with the Eagles before last season (without a gun to his head) and knew exacty what he would be paid each year of said contract....

Let me ask all of you... is TO worth more now than when he signed his contract 1 year ago ( I say no, he's just as good but a year older and injured)

So... if TO is worth the same now as he was a year ago when he signed it, and its entirely his fault he wasn't a FA in the first place, why should the Eagles pay for his mistakes managing his career?


Ronnie is in a completly different boat, he's trying to not screw up right off the bat, its better for him to hold out now, get a deal he likes, than in the future./

I completely agree. Owens is his own worst enemy. Everything you mentioned is a fact. Not to mention his obvious character problems that have come even more to light over this situation.

There is a huge difference and you have to be stupid not to see it, To signed a contract and he is not honoring it, Ronnie has yet to sign a contract, but he will sign a contract. I have a feeling Ronnie will live up to his contract and he will be good.

Owens should of never signed the contract. Owens was in his situation because it was Owen's fault. Ronnie on the other hand wants to get market value. I don't agree with the market value, but market value is market value.

Yes, Owens is 100% wrong. Regardless if he is a top-3 talent, he is wrong. Here's why:

TO was a top-3 WR before last year, right? Right. So he negotiated his contract (his agent speaks for him, so he negotiated and agreed to it) and took what the Eagles were offering (if you're gonna argue that he had no choice, well that was his fault too).

He was the 2nd highest paid player at his position last year, behind only Marvin Harrison.......yet he didn't produce as such, he was only the 10th most productive WR by receiving yards.....has anyone yet heard T.O. offer to give any money bback for that???

He DID NOT GET THE EAGLES TO THE SUPERBOWL!! and he did not get them home-field advantage. They proved for 2 years before he got there that they were a team that could accomplish that w/o TO. What they couldn't do was win the Championship game....w/o TO. So TO came back for the Super Bowl ad was their best player.....but did he help them win???? NO. TO did not help the Eagles win anyhting that they couldn't have one w/o him.

but now he wants more money.....why?? If he wants to be fair....he should givesome back for last year. Then go out and prove he's better than the 34th best WR (or wherever is salary ranks him this year) and stay healthy for a whole season, then maybe ask nicely for more compensation.....until then, he should just shut the f up!!
 
oh, and Ronnie isn't doing anything wrong....he's negotiating for the value which was set for him. And he's doing it at the right time, before he signs, not a year later. Go check with a Charger fan and see if htey are still mad at LaDanian for holding out for 21 days his rookie year.

Ronnie is playing the game the way it's set up....not by his own rules.

TO should have known better. He wanted to go to Philly so badly he signed a s*** contract. Even his agent BEFORE drew knew it was a bad deal. He signed it anyway. He should be getting more. A lot more. It is his own fault that he isn't.

Ronnie was drafted at the #2 spot and should be paid accordingly. At the time of the draft he was (and should still be) the new face of the team helping to bring us to the playoffs. He is trying to get the best deal he can and probably feels that the front office is trying to lowball him b/c Ricky is back and he won't get as much play as originally thought. Soon he will sign his contract, and we will have the best rb tandem in the league. He will not hold out much longer.

They are completely different situations.
 
T.O.'s contract makes him one of the 5 highest paid players at his position. I don't see how he can be holding out from that.
