Ronnie Brown vs. Terrell Owens

Yeah but if he played like **** for the next two years it would be ok for the Eagles to just cut him even though they agreed on the same contract. You see it cant work one way and not the other. If you play better then your contract you have every right to ask for a new one considering the fact if you play below your value Teams have every right to terminate your contract

NO NO NO! The possibility of him being cut was known by him BEFORE THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED. He signed it knowing full well that the Eagles had the upper hand & they could cut him later. It's nothing new, all teams and players and agents are in on it. IT CAN WORK ONE WAY AND NOT THE OTHER IF ALL PARTIES INVOLVED ARE AWARE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES AHEAD OF TIME.

Bullseye.

Its written into every contract that they can be cut for salry cap purposes.

I think T.O. is right, and ronnie is wrong...

This is backwards...TO signed a 7-year deal last year. Honor it.

Ronnie has to sign his first professional contract...the two sides have not agreed to terms yet. There is no way his situation can be compared to TO's. Now if Ronnie signs a 5-year dael and holds out next season....then you can compare him to TO.

Terrell Owens JUST signed his contract last YEAR. He did get market value. Especially considering he is a headache and a distraction. If he didn't like the contract that he signed with the Eagles, he shouldn't have signed it. But now that he did he should honor it. I guarantee you this: No other team will pay him more than he is making now. His character has driven his "fair market value" WAY down. Fair market value goes both ways -not just for the player. And Owens has really hurt his personal market value.
As for Ronnie: He hasn't shown us anything. Sign your contract and PROVE yourself. Earn your money. That goes for all rookies in my book. They are way over-paid. They shoul dhave to prove themselves first. $19 million? Is that not enough guaranteed money? Come on!!

Must agree on Ronnie....his contract should be compared to RB's...As an example...Cadillac Williams...Altho I couldn't find any mention of an amount in th newspaper, I checked a few Pro football sites. One said Williams would get around 14 mil another one said he signed a 5 year contract that could reach $3l million (I guess with bonus & incentives)...Shouldn't that be the comparison rather than comparing salaries of other positions and seasoned veterans?

god point

How about when a team cuts a player for cap purposes? are they honoring their part of the contract? And no, the difference is (and i may sound like a bills fan, so i apologize right away) ronnie is an unproven rookie, and t.o. is a pro bowler.

again....some people just dont seem to understand the concept of the signing bonus.

Players are paid bonuses that they receive immediately upon signing the contract. They keep all the bonus regardless of how long the team keeps them on the roster. This guaranteed money is their compensation for accepting the possibility that they may be cut or traded before they complete their contracts.

There is a huge difference and you have to be stupid not to see it, To signed a contract and he is not honoring it, Ronnie has yet to sign a contract, but he will sign a contract. I have a feeling Ronnie will live up to his contract and he will be good.

It is true that the players know exactly what they are signing, and how this works, but it is ludicrous for the owners to try to claim the high moral ground about "honoring the contract", when the owners can get out of the contract anytime they want by cutting the player. The Eagles ownership will be making money on football a lot longer than T.O. will. Let him get what he can, there is NO danger of the Eagles paying him more than they can afford. Same with Brown. What would YOU do?

Plus, TO got a low ball contract cos he was trouble...

highly skilled, but trouble. Eagles put in a contract at a level which would reward his skill but not be too risky against the trouble he would cause. They now stand by their contract because this exactly what they expected. TO is just being TO.

Brown is just looking to fit into the system as he should - as it exists today. He not being troublesome.

Finally, neither are holding out. TO went to camp. Brown didn't sign a deal so he can't be at camp.

Im just curious I see alot o f people backing Ronnie Brown in his decision to not sign a contract and to ensure that he gets his fair market value. But at the same time I see all these people criticizing T.O for wanting renegotiate his contract for more money isnt it a similar. I mean at least T.O has proven that he is worth the money. Just want to hear people thoughts on the 2 situations. I dont want to hear about T.O's personality because we all know that his personality is not his strong point but playing football in the NFL is.

T.O. has earned quick criticism for his past actions. We'll give Ronnie more slack until he shows us he's a jerk. That's life.

u are an idiot t.o. is a good player but he is a baby ronnie is just trying to get his fair value. t.o. made over 9 mil last season if they had won the super bowl maybe he would have deserved a contrat extentionMod: Any more namecalling and your account will be suspended for 24 hours.

I think both are wrong TO doesnt need more money he is not being a team player and neither is Ronnie 19 mill is enough but he is too worried about Braylon getting more than him

It's written into the contract that he can be cut. It's not written into the contract that he can hold out for more money. There is a difference, one is breach of contract, the other is abiding by the terms of it.
