Ronnie is 1st string rb on the depth chart

this is what his 3rd game? he missed 3 preseason games. why start him out as a workhorse like that? give him 15 carries. morris has shown he can be effective as a runner.

Saban is not the kind of guy to say something and then go out and just completely cave in and give Ronnie 25 carries because he looks ok during the game. If Saban says that it is part of the plan to only get Ronnie 10 to 15 carries in order to ease him into the NFL pounding after his 3 week holdout, that is the plan that Saban is going to execute.

Dave Wannstedt, on the other hand, would say he will only give Ronnie 10 to 15 carries, but then during the game if Ronnie looked good he'd end up with probably 32 carries.

I disagree with this statement completely. Remember the draft? Remember the lip service Saban gave the media about edawards and smith? Saban could be playing the media again, you just don't know.

I think 15 carries is about what RB will get, but I think he'll play alot more. Unlike most rookies, RB doesn't seem to make any mistakes in blitz pickup. That coupled with his receiving abilities make me think the coaches have a great deal of trust in him already.

it does surprise me saban would say how many carries ronnie would get in public... he seems to want to hide everything and everything so the other team has no knowledge going into the game...

i think ronnies run total will depend on his success and his fatigue... its not gonna be set in stone...

You have to learn to distinguish these situations. Prior to the draft Nick Saban has every incentive to lie or give one impression or the other to the media, but you have to pay attention to what he SAYS.

What Nick has actually SAID in this case with Ronnie, is that the "smart" thing to do with him is to continue to ease him into the line-up and increase his dosage only to about 10 to 15 carries.

Raise your hand if you think Nick Saban is the type of coach to open himself to media criticism by professing a plan that would be in the best interest of Brown from an injury standpoint, and then go into the game and give into temptation and not follow through on the "smart" plan. Raise your hand if you think Nick Saban will allow the media to (rightfully) think him a hypocrite.

Just kidding. I agree with you......Ronnie will get 10-15 touches....like it, or not.

I wouldn't put much stock in Minor being #2 on the depth chart...Morris is just better and he will have more carries than Minor in my opinion...Morris is a better blocker and doesn't go down when breathed on...I would expect to see Minor in more of a pass catching role than running it.

I think most of us knew he'd start. It does tick me off a little though that he will probably only get 10 to 15 carries since Saban is still easing him into action after he missed 3 weeks of training camp. I'm happy that the Dolphins managed to negotiate a contract that is a bit less painful than one would think for a #2 pick, and I'm happy that the 3 week negotiating process contained no acrimony or public battles in the press...but Ronnie missing 3 weeks is going to hurt our chances of winning the first game of the season.

The less Sammy Morris plays, the better for the Dolphins....no offense....

CK Morris have played well for us. What I want to know is, do you think Chatman will see any carries? Love to be able to give him 5 to 10 slams up the middle of their D.

15 carries, you gotta be kidding me!He's never going to get in football shape give the man atleast 20 carries DAMN!
that's 240 carries for the season... if he averages 4 yards a carry that's nearly a thousand yards. I dont' see why 15 carries by ronnie combine with 5 catches a game would be a bad thing. with ricky and ronnie in the backfield that's exactly what I would expect from ronnie.

Anyone notice that Minor is #2 on the depth chart in front of Morris?

i see morris is our #2--http://www.ourlads.com/secure/depthchart.cfm?index1=mia

I said 10 to 15 carries, not 10 to 15 touches. I would not be surprised at all by about 20 touches overall. I would, however, be surprised if Ronnies carries even approached the 20 mark. To me, that would be Saban getting away from the plan that he has put in place for Ronnie's own safety, and it should be taken as a sign of weakness by Saban, him not following through on something he had already decided that was in the best interest of Ronnie as a player and the team.
