Ronnie on NFL LIVE!

Honestly my gut tells me Ronnie won't ever live up to his physical skills. He just doesn't see the game as the great backs do. I think "tool" wise he definitely should have been drafted before Caddy. But Caddy has those intangiables and reminds me of a cross between Emmit Smith and Warrick Dunn, with his vision. Ronnie just doesn't do it for me. Time will tell but Braylon Edwards may make sense in the long run. I think a hasty decision on Ricky's future won't be made soon and that he'll be here at least this season. Watching Ricky work with our line, he creates, Caddy created at Auburn, Ronnie never did that, he ran people over. In the NFL you don't run people over, ask Greg Jones.

Someone has never seen Ronnie Brown play.

Exactly!!

Vision is nice, but so is size and speed.

yup aaaannnd route running ability.. Ronnie is the COMPLETE back!

THe only question is: Can he handle the load on his own? We might not have find out for a while if RW is still around carryin the rock!

Rickey Williams was one of the greatest running backs in college football history! Rickey has an n.f.l. rushing title! Ronnie Brown is a talented college football player who could not win his job outright. It is laughable to mention them in the same breath.

yea because so many college coaches would of not used Caddie and Ronnie in the same backfield.

this has been debated many times, would you rather have one good back in the backfield or two?!:shakeno: and would you stick a 5'10'' 205 pound back or a 6'' 230 pound back at fullback:shakeno: what you say is true that they cant be mentioned in the same breath as far as college success but ronnie has just as much talent as ricky does and he has a good head on his shoulders which could lead to an even more succesful career than ricky in the nfl.

Amen!! BTW..thats one freaky sig and avatar :escape: !!!

I'm having trouble understanding this thread. It seems the debate is should we trade Ricky for Ronnie. Good news people we have them BOTH!!!! I don't care who is faster or who is bigger or who has better vision. They are both dangerous weapons that demand defenses attention. I am stoked, let's get it on!

Your perception of RB is, IMO, more fitting for a guy like Ron Dayne. Big and tough to bring down, but not going to break it long and can't make people miss using elusive abilities, and tends to just run into the pile if there's no hole.

I've seen a half dozen tapes on RB while at Auburn, and this just isn't the case. He is quick to the hole, has good momentum with him, but exhibits an ability to alter his momentum very quickly and then turn on that extra gear to get past the front seven into the secondary. What I noticed most, was that for a 235 pound guy, he seemed to have amazingly light feet...that is it seemed his feet were never on the ground very long...always chopping and darting one way or another.

I'll agree with you that he lacks the same vision as an Emmitt Smith, but what you have to remember is that vision was pretty much the only outstanding trait he had going for him. He just always seemed to be going in the right direction. Never went all that fast, never really bowled folks over on a regular basis. By the same token, RB (and other backs like him; Alexander Lewis and Dillon) has something Emmitt didn't in the size/speed combo.

Bottom line, there's more than one way to skin that cat.
