Ronnie on NFL LIVE!

Watching Ricky work with our line, he creates, Caddy created at Auburn, Ronnie never did that, he ran people over. In the NFL you don't run people over, ask Greg Jones.

What???

You're kidding right?

Honestly my gut tells me Ronnie won't ever live up to his physical skills. He just doesn't see the game as the great backs do. I think "tool" wise he definitely should have been drafted before Caddy. But Caddy has those intangiables and reminds me of a cross between Emmit Smith and Warrick Dunn, with his vision. Ronnie just doesn't do it for me. Time will tell but Braylon Edwards may make sense in the long run. I think a hasty decision on Ricky's future won't be made soon and that he'll be here at least this season. Watching Ricky work with our line, he creates, Caddy created at Auburn, Ronnie never did that, he ran people over. In the NFL you don't run people over, ask Greg Jones.

I suppose, based on that line of thinking, you thought Jamal Lewis would be a bust too? Who's more elusive? Who has the better hands? Time will tell.

you do both make cuts, find holes, or run guys over. what do you mean you don't run guys over in the NFL, what do you think Jamal Lewis does? he's run over guys plenty of times, Ronnie Brown is close to his size with great speed.

I think we all agree that Ricky is the better back, most talented anyway. Ronnie still is yet to prove anything, until he does, he is a rookie.

We do?

Ricky is more experenced but Ronnie is more physically talented, I'll let you know about the vision after Ronnie gets a fair shot.

Ricky ran people over. Ever seen him plow though a guy on his way into the end zone. There was a video posted yesterday showing just that.

I think what he meant by that is that Ronnie is a) bigger b)faster c)has better hands.

Does not mean he is a better player. Like I said, let Ronnie get 2-3 games under his belt before we start making comparisons.

Ronnie doesn't have the vision that Ricky and Cadillac have. That is what he will struggle with early on. He's got the physical ability to do real damage though, and he could always develop high quality vision...it's not like he has bad vision anyway the dude does read the right holes and hits them really well. I can see the argument that he doesn't "create" like Caddy and Ricky do though...

But you know, this is like saying that Emmitt Smith will never live up to the same potential of Barry Sanders because Emmitt doesn't have that ability to "create" like Barry does. Catch my drift?

Tell Earl Cambpell that. Or Walter Payton.

Whats the point again?

Ricky was a physical speciman coming out of college. He has amazing body control.

Yes and good explanation.

I like Cadillac a lot but with his size, durability has to be a concern.

And thats a great point ck about Emmit and Barry.

In believe in Ronnie, we're going to see a back similar to what Ricky was in 2002 in terms of how they hit the hole. He will hit it hard and with speed, which in the NFL, is half the battle.

Ricky is VERY physically talented. It's not just vision with him it's god-given ability. Like Leigh Steinberg said, genetically Ricky just lives in a different area code from the rest of us. Ronnie is that way too. Huge, very powerful, very very fast, soft hands, and a very fluid gait (which is important, good legs for a RB). You could say maybe that Ronnie is more versatile than Ricky because of his pass catching ability, but physically speaking I think they're both right on top of each other.

Ricky use to be a good lead blocker too, and so did Ronnie. They both have a lot to offer.

You know what excites me? That we could let Ricky play this year, become a model NFL citizen, contribute tons of yardage next to Ronnie, and then trade him away next year for a first day pick when his value as it a premium.

Just to add: You don't have to have Ricky/Caddy Williams' vision to succeed in the NFL, thankfully there are other qualities (specifically his current size and soft receiving hands) that Ronnie does possess that I beilive will lead him to excellence.

Exactly!!

Vision is nice, but so is size and speed.
