Ronnie vs. Ricky

how do you know? from last week we sure saw that he had moves by juking some defenders on the same play but you don't know about the power, he hasn't shown power lately and he's still down 10 pounds from last year so how do we know he has power?

Alright..point takin. His power will come back even more once the season progresses. Another thing Ricky has on Brown is Vision on the field. Nobody can argue that.

I agree. Like I said before, I'm not saying the Ronnie doesn't have the potential to be better. But if someone were asking me to pick right now between the two based on talent alone it would be Ricky.

One thing is for sure I'm glad they are both on my team right now. I'd like for it to turn into the Hi-line version of Dunn/Duckett.

alright everyone Ricky has the vision and experience as well but the reason I take Brown is because he can affect a game in more ways then just running the rock, call him inexperienced but that isn't a large factor with rookie RBs

yes I do just compare all aspects of the game

Brown has the speed edge
Williams has the agility/moves edge
Williams has the power edge
Brown has the receiver/catching edge
Brown has the blocking edge

thats Brown 3-2

anything else?

Did you completely forget what Ricky did in College?

You cannot compare them based on their college careers. Brown didn't even start in college.

There is a reason Iron Mike gave away an entire draft for Ricky, and it's not because he took too many blows to the head playing TE for Dallas...

He's going to be the first team RB eventually, based on him being drafted 2nd, and getting the huge contract he got, BUT...

Realistically if there were an open competition there is NO WAY that he would beat out Williams...

So then Ricky wasn't good at catching out of the backfield? I can remember many times where he would break big gains off screens. His blocking was never an issue as well. I mean people had to gameplan to stop ricky. Ricky was almost our whole offense.

I like Ronnie Brown, but Williams probably had more rushing yards in college in ONE year than Brown did during his entire college career..

umm hes ricky williams, he had a ****load of power before he left he couldnt have lost it all hes still got some somewhere

Which running back do you think is better as of now despite Ronnie missing most of training camp?

Since Williams is a proven Pro-Bowler and Brown is a rook who hasn't played a down in preseason or regular season..how can you compare them ??

It is all speculation, but if that is what you want, here goes:

Overall, Brown has the better upside...he is a better all-around back. His blocking is better, his pass recieving is better, he is faster and his power is about equal to that of Williams.

Williams has better vision, better change of direction, explosion in the hole better ability to take on blockers and see the openings. Add to the fact that he has 5 years experience on RB, you would have to say, right now, this minute...Williams is the better back.

But if you add in the reliability question with RW, then Brown is the better option for us.

But, we'll see just how good Brown can be when the season starts and RW is on his suspension.

Williams is the more talented back. Ronnie may be have been the best back coming out this draft but if you had put him in the same draft with Williams and James, he might have been the 3rd or 4th best. Yes he has good hands. But Ricky's combination on power and speed and hands and strength is tough for anyone to duplicate. It's not a far stretch to that Ricky has the talent to be the best RB in the league if he puts his heart into it. The year he had 1800 + yards, he was playing behind a bad O Line.
Ronnie is a rookie so, Ricky's suspension aside, I would have chosen Ricky to start the season (and I'll bet Ricky would have too if it weren't for his suspension). Ronnie should end up being very productive, but it's hard to think he'll be a better RB than Ricky.

I don't know why you're laughing. Ricky is the better back right now. Ronnie has a lot to prove and a lot to LEARN. Ricky Williams is a rare talent.

Ricky Williams. Ronnie Brown has done ABSOLUTELY nothing in the league yet. Lets reevaluate after a full season under his belt. Quite frankly, Ricky left some big shoes to fill before he retired. They may even be too big for himself.

What can Brown do for you?

Brown has not played a single down of real pro football. He hasnt proven anything at all on this level except that he can sign a huge contract.
That said, I still judge him as a better all around back because he has not proven to be a quitter. I'll take a guy who wants to play and be a professional football player anyday over a guy who is only back because he owes the franchise money if he isnt here.
I DO question all of Williams motives and his real desire to play football. I think it will be hard for Williams to win the starting job after the first four weeks. He will get alot of carries, but wont be the guy.
