Ronnie's first td as an eagle

I don't think he would've signed here for that type of contract the eagles gave him.

its basically he's proving a point on that deal to get a better contract next year.... he couldn't have proved that point with us because he wouldn't get the carries.

good luck to him he's a good guy.

In my mind, a 2nd overall pick should be special regardless of the position.

Why have you developed that opinion? Truly special players (e.g. Peyton Manning, Lawrence Taylor) don't show up in the draft every single year. I think you'll find that it's more like two or three every decade. Now if we're talking Pro Bowl caliber players, that's a little different. Ronnie Brown certainly underachieved, but a lot of that had to do with injuries. There were several seasons where he was playing at a pro bowl caliber level only to have it up ended by an injury (2007 and 2009). Hindsight says that Ronnie Brown was not worthy of the #2 overall pick. But when the pick was made, Brown certainly was worthy of the #2 in terms of talent and potential. His play prior to the injuries prove this.

BTW, here are the top 2 picks from the last 10 drafts (previous to this past one). How many of these players are truly special? 3 or 4? And that's out of 20.

2010
1 St. Louis Rams Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma
2 Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska

2009
1 Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
2 St. Louis Rams Jason Smith T Baylor

2008
1 Miami Dolphins Jake Long T Michigan
2 St. Louis Rams Chris Long DE Virginia

2007
1 Oakland Raiders JaMarcus Russell QB Louisiana State
2 Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech

2006
1 Houston Texans Mario Williams DE North Carolina State
2 New Orleans Saints Reggie Bush RB USC

2005
1 San Francisco 49ers Alex Smith QB Utah
2 Miami Dolphins Ronnie Brown RB Auburn

2004
1 San Diego Chargers Eli Manning QB Mississippi
2 Oakland Raiders Robert Gallery T Iowa

2003
1 Cincinnati Bengals Carson Palmer QB USC
2 Detroit Lions Charles Rogers WR Michigan State

2002
1 Houston Texans David Carr QB Fresno State
2 Carolina Panthers Julius Peppers DE North Carolina

2001
1 Atlanta Falcons Michael Vick QB Virginia Tech
2 Arizona Cardinals Leonard Davis G Texas

According to Sidd rosenairbag ...neither wanted to stay because we "screwed " Ronnie out of some incentive that he was 19 yards away from getting...all teams do dirty **** like that

Ronnie Brown was payed way more than his worth here. He is now what he should have always been, a back up.

the other thing i don't understand is if they are bringing in all these old rb's why didn't they just resign ricky, would have been a lot better option than larry johnson

I said nothing about replacing him with Johnson.

In my mind, a 2nd overall pick should be special regardless of the position.

Ronnie Brown wasn't special. He'll be just another blip in Dolphins history.

Exactly.

Ronnie should be in the same conversation as Peterson, Johnson etc.. but the fact that he was the number 2 overall pick and injury prone made that pick a bust in terms of production from a pick that high. Ironically Cadillac Williams has put up similar numbers in his career and both have been injury prone, the one thing all the draft experts agreed on when both came out of Auburn, can they handle a full load as a featured back - no. The experts were right on the money with that assessment.

Why not turn the roster over this season at running back, unless you are excited about 734yrds and a 3.7 average out of 2nd overall pick in what is supposed to be the prime of his career.

the reason Ronnie was caught dancing is the holes were few and far between last year

I am grateful for the time Ricky and Ronnie played here. I liked them both and wish them both success and will look for them in the highlights every week. I hope we can meet Ronnie in the SB!!!

People, Ricky bashed the head coach openly. You might get away if you are irreplaceable, but he is not. It was time to move away from Ricky and Ronnie. That is not to bash either one, I liked them both, even though Ricky screwed us a few times. Sometimes you just got to let go and move on. Nothing else to see here.

Exactly, this change was going to happen eventually. People still holding on,to what? It's like people still using horses to get around when a car is available lol

I am more mad that I have to file 2 more Dolphins jerseys in the don't wear anymore side of the closet. I am glad I am in Korea, jerseys are cheap!

Whats the excuse the other five years? He was dancing from the day he walked through the door.

Ronnie is nothing but a back up?? Did you think about that before your fingers touched the keyboard? Look at a list of every RB in the league and outside of
Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles, Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones Drew, Ray Rice, Frank Gore, Ahmad Bradshaw and maybe one other....there are NO other RB's that are truly "better" than Ronnie. Some maybe with better numbers because of offense scheme or styles, or because they didn't share the load with another good back. He was very much a starting RB. Play calling and OL killed his potential and if you don't see that then you have put your hate goggles on and just want to find bad in everything. He was the productive drama free type of player any team wants and just went out and played hard.
Now, I agree that it was time to bring in some fresh blood to charge things up, I just wish he and Ricky could have had one more year to benefit from this new aggressive offense. I realize with Bush and Thomas it's not realistic to have that many RB's......it's just ridiculous to hear anyone say that he is just a back up. Did you watch the video of his TD last night? That is NOT a back up!

Ronnie is a very dynamic running back and can do things really no other RB in the nfl can do, he can run the wildcat to perfection, he can throw the ball pretty damn good, he can catch passes out of the backfield, he can lineup at WR once in a while, when he was healthy he was a top 5 running back no doubt, at 6'1 230 he was a straight beast and a monster at the goal-line, the problem with ronnie was he couldnt stay healthy but for the price the eagles signed him i would of kept him in a heartbeat he could of been our goal-line short yardage back and just add another dynamic piece to an offense that is lacking another playmaker, but instead we signed larry johnson!
