Success in the NFL Draft can make or break a NFL team, and no draft class was less productive in 2013 than the Dolphins.

An analysis by The Palm Beach Post shows that the Dolphins draft picks combined for just 866 snaps this year. They were the only team in the NFL that didn’t get more than 1,000 snaps from their rookies. Buffalo linebacker Kiko Alonso himself — a second round pick — was in on every one of Buffalo’s 1,177 defensive snaps.

Not good, if we had a team with a lot of real good players it would not be a big deal just more time to develop. With the Dolphins not so much.

two things in regard to this.

This coaching staff doesnt like to rely on rookies and we got some good players in Grimes and OV stepping up. circumstances if you will. This will mean nothing next year.

Kiko the steal of the draft? Who on here was pushing Kiko? Probly not many. That guy is puny.

Good going,Jeff!!!!!....Bum.

Why the heck did we start Ryan Tannehill and Jonathan Martin last year if this staff doesn't like to rely on rookies? Vernon also got significant playing time last year...probably more than Jordan got this year and Miller played more last year than Gillislee did this year.

Oh and Hoops was pretty high on Kiko Alonso...I thought the guy was a head case myself but a good player.

Our 3rd overall pick certainly didn't live up to expectations, although there is potential

our 2nd and 3rd round cornerbacks got absolutely worked everytime they were on the field, there is a reason they didn't play much

How in the hell was Dallas taken in the 3rd round.....guy has a long long way to go

Jenkins showed some progress in pass defense by the end of the year, but mostly special teams

While Sims has some talent, his blocking wasn't as good as I was expecting

Caleb was up and down, certainly not an upgrade

Gillisslee should continue to progress as I did like what I saw from him

Don Jones was lucky to make the team, and outside of several special teams plays did nothing.

If Dion doesn't pan out, then this would be one of the worst drafts I have ever witnessed......we failed because we couldn't count on 1 single rookie to help the team in a positive manner. That is why Ireland needs to be fired. He gave Philbin nothing to work with at all from this draft....

Remember Philbin said he worked closely with Ireland this year after his star struck first year to draft the players he wanted so blame is on both Philbin and Ireland for this draft

This stat alone is the reason to fire Ireland. BUT.....I also contend it's an indictment of our coaching staff. There has to be some teaching and development of these young guys. It was painfully obvious our coaches weren't spending time self scouting or coming up with innovative game plans.

This entire staff must be let go........ There is no other answer.

Yeah, I remember hoops talking about Kiko as well. Actually there were a few people that were talking him up, I wasn't one of them... Humility people

I actually liked our draft and I still do. Seeing the trend of our rookies not catching on till their 2nd or 3rd year (due to coaching!) i'll wait to give them a thumbs up or thumbs down. I think we have some real playmakers in the bunch in Jordan, Taylor, Sims and maybe Jenkins.

So snaps equals success? What if the teams that played their rookies more did worse because of it?

1. Evaluate a draft class in two to three years

2. That is on the coaching staff partly for not being able to develop

3. While you want some contributions from a draft class, doesn't show that others on the roster are simply better football players and are preventing the rooks for getting in? I am not saying that some will not bust or that they are not being developed, but there are vets that simply were playing better than the draftees.

Another good point.

The reason why people love a player like Jordan and are meh on a guy like Alsonso is all about grading players based on combine numbers.

Add Gillislee to my list. Forgot about him.. He needs to add some muscle though.

This! Just because rookies played more on some teams doesn't mean it was a bust. I'm sure that if OV wasn't having a double digit sack season you would have seen much more of Jordan. Plus Taylor was hurt all season. Bottom line is that it's much too early to judge this draft class.

While I think our rookie class sucked, consider this:

The vast majority of the teams down at the bottom of that list with the Dolphins are playoff teams.

We just weren't bad enough to put these guys on the field a lot.
