Ross calls to hire you for the GM job...

No college coaches pleasethanks. Honestly? The phins org. needs to break from the stigma of being a "good ol' boy" team and hire some men of color at the top; which will also gain some cred amongst the players, especially FAs. Foremost, Ross should be doing whatever he can to woo Dungy into a FO position whether GM or VP Ops. Concurrently, it's time Nat Moore was given a real shot at something. As for HC, only Gruden, Cowher, or Lovie Smith would suffice. If you cant get a name like that, then get Todd Bowles back in here. (he never should've left in the 1st place)

Any way you slice it though, he needs his FO somewhat in order before he makes a coaching decision. Having a Dungy, Moore, or hell maybe a Marino in there will pay dividends.
This is an asinine statement. You do not exclude every other race of people to hire a black GM. You hire the most qualified guy for the position, irregardless of the color of his skin. I think the players will respect anyone that is competent and doing well at his job. But I definitely can not stomach another season with our coaching staff and FO.

I look for a good, proven head coach immediately. We aren't in a rebuilding stage, we're in a "few more pieces stage." Proven head coaches would notice that right away, get this ****ing team in order, and get us into the ****ing post season. Someone like Gruden or Cowher would not only shape this team up, they aren't afraid to bench, scream at, or even cut a player when need be. And we wouldn't be losing to less than .500 teams either. Get us a god damn coach.

after firing Ireland, Philbin and company, no describe your plan here. Take your time, include FO, coaches, free agency, the draft and anything else you see as relevant.

Hire Ken Whisenhunt. Allow him to fill out his staff as he sees fit. Kick the defense back to a 3-4(which, for Whisenhunt, is his preference anyways).

Cut Dimitri Patterson, Matt Moore, Daniel Thomas, and some others. Resign Grimes for slightly above market value on a, say, 4 year deal, front load the contract. Offer Starks a fair contract. Work with him a bit. If he demands to much, bail and resign Soliai. If both have fair demands, then grab them both. Extend Jared Odrick at the same time. Offer Chris Clemens a low offer. Laugh as the Nolan Carroll's and John Jerry's left the building. Maybe makes some depth signings here and there. Id make a half-hearted run at Ben Tate, but wouldnt drop serious money.
Float around the rumor that Wake and Vernon are available for trade. Id immediately pull the trigger on Wake for a first and would strongly consider a second and change for him. Vernon would cost a 2nd rounder. I would not trade both.

Free agency: go after a tackle for a moderate price(lets say Eric Winston). After that, trade for Jason Peters. After spending the 4th overall pick on a tackle last draft, Peters could probably be had for a 4th rounder and change. If push came to shove id give up a 3rd for him, but try and get some late round picks in return.

Draft: My draft philosophy would be "Best player available so long as it makes logical sense". We'll be picking around the mid-round(14-17), so a top 10 talent "should" drop. Quarterback always fly up the board, tackles will go high(and, after FA, we wont need one), and pass rushers will always go high. Thus, some of the "big name" receivers should be dropping. Some of the freakish tight ends should as well. Id also heavily scout CJ Mosley and other LB's. If a WR, TE, and a LB were all same exact grade and fell to our spot, id grab the receiver. Under no circumstances would i draft an offensive lineman.
Second round would go similar, fortunately recently history has shown you can still land talented LB's and TE's on the second day. The rest of the draft would depend on the moves i made earlier(trading for Peters, trading Wake, etc, etc, etc), but it would all focus on "BPA so long as it makes sense".

Then id watch as Whisenhunt won us 9 or more games in 2014 while laying the foundation for a 2015 Superbowl push. Philip Wheeler would not be on that team.

after hiring my offensive minded coach, resigning McKinney, drafting 2 tackles early and one guard early and one late.

letting all other FA's walk, including grimes. too much money.

sign legarette blount.

move misi to ILB. Ellerbe strong side. draft stud LB who has instincts.

that's all I got

You really don't know **** about football, do you? That is becoming abundantly clear...

Bring in competition for every position!

I'm with you. I want Tim tebow to be our qb, at least that kid brings heart and a will to win not many have. He would bring hope to our team. The fanbase would love him cuz of his heart. I would rather lose with tebow then these sry bunch of passionless robots.

I wouldn't make to many changes we got talent. sherman and coyle would be gone promote the qb coach to oc. sign grimes to a three year take it or leave it deal clemons gone starks gone. find olinemen with quick feet. move jordan to linebacker and trade wake

The only people I'd resign is Grimes and DP. I'd inquire about Solai to test the waters. I'd cut or trade wheeler, move elderbe to olb, cut both Sherman and Coyle. Free agency- address oline, dline, mlb, rb, Te, s. Draft- tackle and best guard available even if that means trading a 2nd and 4th to get back into the late first. Oline would be pretty much done for years, and it'll give Tannahill time to throw and lanes for rb's to run. Line would look like this- Albert(Fa) and Cyrus Kouandjio(draft) as our tackles- Pouncy - Cyril Richardson(draft) guard -and a fa or drafte to fill the other Guard spot.

Still undecided about Philbin but if I sent him packing I'd go with either the Auburn coach or pay Cowher to come out of retirement .

Wawawaat????

I actually put some time and effort into this. Don't ask me why, though.

*Resign: Grimes, Clemons, Soliai, Keller, Patterson (one year incentive laden deal) and Yeatman.

*Don't resign: Starks, Carroll, Clabo, Binns, Incognito (obv).

*Cut: Martin, McKinnie, Wheeler.

*Do not extend (yet): Pouncey, Clay, J. Wilson. You'd have to think about resigning Clay because the TE market is going to be so strong this offseason, but I still think he's more of a swing guy who's numbers -- and therefore his price -- will go down next year.

*Look to trade away: Olivier Vernon, Matt Moore.

*Try and trade for Donald Stephenson of the Chiefs. Can play either LT or RT. (A biased suggestion, since I liked him at Oklahoma).

*Unrestricted Free Agent targets (not saying we should sign all of these people, obviously, they're just people I would be looking at/feeling out their contract demands):

Running backs
--Anthony Dixon (running back currently with San Fran)
--John Kuhn (this team needs someone who can pass block and pick up short yardage)
*Didn't cover this position very much, but these guys are always around.

Offensive linemen (the cupboard is bare so we're going to have to stock this position from FA)
--Anthony Collins (fill in LT for currently with Bengals. Would be a starter on most teams)
--Mike Pollak (athletic swing guard currently with Bengals)
--Zane Beadles (LG of Broncos)
--Alex Mack (star C of the Browns. Can move to G or move Pouncey to G. Would cost big $$. But worth it)
--Evan Dietrich-Smith (capable ZBS G currently with Packers)
--Rodger Saffold (with the Rams. Can play LT or RT. Likely to be a pretty big $$ FA. Not at the Jake Long level, but at, say, the Wil Beatty/Jermon Bushrod level)
--Ryan Harris (swing LT/RT. Capable)
--Mike Otto (backup type LT/RT)
--Joe Berger (remember him? He's a better fit for a ZBS than he was in our old power scheme. A decent backup)

Defensive linemen
--Terrence Knighton (DT/NT with Broncos -- esp if you can't resign Soliai)
--Cam Thomas (DT with Chargers)
--Fred Evans (remember him? A very nice swing DT, currently with Minny. More of a replacement for Starks than Soliai)

Coverage linebackers (replacing Wheeler)
--Wesley Woodyard (coverage LB currently with Broncos. Down year this year but has been good in the past)
--Dekoda Watson (coverage LB with Bucs)

Pass rush specialist
--Arthur Moats (situational pass rusher with Bills)
*Didn't cover this position very much but it's something I'd definitely be looking at as I would be trying to trade Vernon away at the peak of his value

Other
--Jermichael Finley/Scott Chandler (depending on Keller's progress from injury. TE market is strong this year, though. Plenty of options)
--Sam Shields (depending on progress of Grimes talks)
--Kenny Britt (a one year type deal only. This guy has HUGE talent but is ****ing up his way out of the league. If properly motivated, he's as good as they come.)

I would be about as qualified for the Miami Dolphins GM position as a Chigaco Bears ballboy

No offense, but thankfully that is 'all you got'. Grimes was arguably a top 4 or 5 corner this season.

The team’s glaring issue all year has been its maturity. We have a well-disciplined team (few penalties) but we’ve been extremely inconsistent. We’ve beaten NE, SD, PIT, IND, CIN but had inexplicable losses to teams like TB, BUF (twice) and the Jets. The Incognito scandal showed a lack of internal control and the late season collapse would never have happened if we had veteran leadership in place.

Teams often take on the persona of their head coaches. The image of Rex Ryan chest bumping with his players while Philibin remained stoic and emotionless on the sidelines will be engrained in my memory for some time. Philibin is more of a “thinker” – he’s not a bad coach, just not a player’s coach. You have to draw emotion from somewhere and the pulse of the team just seemed to die in the final weeks.

With that being said my head coaching wish list is a short one. Jay Gruden would be my top choice and maybe Lovie Smith as a backup plan. I’ve been a fan of Jay since his days with the Predators. He’s passionate, offensive minded, his players love him, and he’ll go to any lengths to win. He’ll have a HC job in the NFL next year (if he wants it); only question that remains is where? I’d stay away from all college coaches and John Gruden and Bill Cowher are staying put so I’m not even considering them. If I can’t have anyone from my wish list then I would consider sticking with Philibin for one more year and seeing where the road ends.

Once the HC is in place we sit down and talk about the rest of the staff. Changes need to be made and Sherman will likely be the scapegoat. He’s in over his head and many players seemed to complain about his play calling all season long. Defensive scheme needs to be more aggressive and more fundamentally sound. We have to figure out a way to get more production from our LBs (they’ve been horrid this year). I’d expect to see a shakeup in the coaching staff regardless of whether Philibin stays on as HC.

QB – The top free agents are Cutler, Vick, McCown and Freeman but none of them are worth the money. The college QBs coming out do not excite me. Tannehill is the best option and has shown me enough to stick with him for at least another year (maybe even until his contract is up).

RBs, WRs, TEs – I’m not satisfied with our current RB situation. We need a veteran RB but the top free agents (Moreno and Tate) will be pricey. I like MJD and McFadden but they’re too injury prone. Perhaps a guy like Mendenhall would fit the bill but I would more likely look toward the draft. We also need a tall possession receiver. Boldin would be wonderful but he won’t come cheap. I’d rather invest that type of money in a large/athletic TE and give Tannehill another nice security blanket to throw to.

OL – Absolutely this is my top area of need. Albert, Monroe, and Slauson would be at the top of my wish list. We’ll need to sign at least one of these guys. I’m not warm on the idea of moving Pouncey to guard. He’s a Pro Bowl center and that’s where I’d like to keep him. Would draft heavily on the OL in 2014. We’re going to need more help then we can likely find in just one offseason.

DL – Need to decide who to let go here (Starks or Soliai). Can’t afford them both so I’d probably let Starks go. We have enough young talent on the DL so I think we’ll be fine here.

LBs – Wish I could get a “redo” in this area but I think we’re stuck with our current guys. Guess we better figure out how to make the most of what we have. Anthony Spencer and Brandon Spikes might be worth a look but we may have to look to the draft again. Hopefully we can adjust our defensive scheme and make better use of what we have. I’m concerned about this position going into next year.

DBs- Lock up Grimes ASAP. Don’t even let him hit the open market. We have enough CBs on this team already so investing money/draft picks doesn’t make a lot of sense. Patterson may be a cap casualty but we should be able to find/develop somebody on the current roster. Should be OK here.

Special Teams – Decisions were already made this year. Have to live with them. Hopefully Sturgis improves in year 2. No major changes here.

Adding Veterans – Since we’ll be watching the playoffs from home this year I’ll be keeping an eye out for second tier players and experienced veterans that we can sign to short term contracts. Teams like SF, NO, Seattle and Denver are bursting at the seams with talent and if we can pluck a few players here and there it can only benefit us. Looking for value players that can fill areas of need and not break the bank.

The 2013 Fins had talent but were lacking in both leadership and maturity. We have a lot of good young players but nobody to mentor them and teach them how to be professionals. They lacked passion and emotion and were never held accountable for their mistakes (which has led to inconstancy and controversy). “Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions” – (Harold S Geneen). Hopefully they’ll use this season as motivation and bring more attitude to the field in 2014. Hope you enjoyed the read.
