Stephen Ross doesn't expect the pattern to break up and believes, per Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal, there will be an NFL team in Los Angeles "certainly within five years."

Ross, part of a 70-person group of NFL executives and coaches speaking at an NFL career symposium in Pennsylvania over the weekend, also said, of the NFL in L.A., he can "see it coming."

But don't worry, Dolphins fans. This doesn't mean Ross is picking up his toys and heading as far away from Miami as United States geography will allow.

It wouldn't make sense for the Dolphins to leave. L.A. is a huge market, sure, but it's not like Miami is small. Additionally, the celebrity draw of Miami should keep Ross hanging around.

The Dolphins need only become a winner again and attendance will climb quickly.

The first part is easier said than done, but it's also precisely why a team in a smaller market struggling to win games and bring in fans could end up being lured to the bright lights and green glow of football in Los Angeles.

I'd be worried if I'm a Buffalo fan. I don't want them to move- as much as we all hate them, its a great football city and they have great fans. But with Ralph Wilson passing away and the future of the Bills up in the air, I think they have to be the #1 candidate. I'd say Jacksonville, but the league will probably (stupidly) move them to London if things don't improve there.

My bet is Oakland, but SD or STL aren't far behind. The Raiders already have a fanbase there, so it makes the most sense.

Good call actually. The Raiders would make a ton of sense. A pre-existing fan-base, and they wouldn't have to realign.

I thought Buffalo was working on plans for a new stadium?

The New Stadium Working Group is an advisory committee composed of up to 21 members with seven each from the Bills, the State of New York and Erie County, as part of the lease agreement for Ralph Wilson Stadium. The group was formed to explore the possible development and construction of a new stadium either on the site of the current stadium or on another location in Erie County or a substantial renovation of Ralph Wilson Stadium.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said twice last week he believes the Buffalo Bills will need a new stadium to remain viable in Western New York.

While Erie County executive Mark Poloncarz quickly responded to say that a retrofit of Ralph Wilson Stadium remains on the table, architectural and design firm AECOM was set to begin touring potential sites for a new stadium this week. The group is expected to send a completed report to New York State by July, suggesting three or four stadium sites.

While its unclear exactly which sites AECOM will tour or consider, a few potential spots for a new stadium emerged in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, the Daily News reported that Batavia, New York could be in the mix as a stadium location. Batavia is a city of about 15,000 situated in a rural area halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, New York, which proponents believe would be an ideal location to attract fans from the two major cities in the Bills' market.

I see them moving to the bigger market in Toronto (5th largest in North America), especially if Trump buys them, since he already owns a few things in Toronto. They also have the built-in fanbase and are close enough that some current Bills fans may just make the 1 and 40 minute trek. Then you add the fact that the NFL REALLY wants international teams and I bet they could negotiate some kind of incentive from the NFL for providing one.

I think the knee jerk on this will be "Ross is posturing for a stadium deal." That could be true. However, given the fact that Ross has a habit of letting things slip, I think it's far more likely that he just accidentally blurted this out.

My money's absolutely on the Rams or Raiders, based on what I know of their stadium situations, and also the fact that it would kind of make sense to move either of them back to LA.

Plus Oakland is the least valuable team in the league and currently compete with the 49ers for the market whereas they'd have LA all to themselves. They only have a one year stadium contract too, if I'm not mistaken, unlike Buffalo.

Yeah the Rams also make a lot of sense, for the same reasons the Raiders do. Fan-base already in place, and no need to realign.

It won't be Buffalo. Moving an East Coast team to the West Coast team would mean they'd have to switch divisions, and switching divisions means destroying rivalries, and rivalries = money. If a team moves to LA it will be a team that can easily move to LA, such as the Rams, Raiders or Chargers -- all of whom have been in LA before.

This idea of the Dolphins moving to LA has always been a Chicken Little farce. It's similarly ridiculous to think Buffalo will move there.

Kroenke's already bought land there. My guess is that there's a quid pro quo *wink**wink* understanding with Goodell that as a result of him agreeing to the draft Sam charade, there will be no league interference in relocating the Rams back to the LA market. IMO, given that, when it comes to renewing with the city of STL, he will purposely insist on such an advantageous deal that city officials will have no choice but to walk away. And that's just as intended.

Dont think the Bills are a candidate if the team is sold to Tom Golisano. He is the CEO/owner of Paychex and lives in the Rochester area, and he seems to be the front runner for the team. I cant see the owners of the Jags to want to move to California either - go from a low tax state to the highest in the country...I think Ross is just blowing smoke...

I think the rams will relocate there as it makes sense given the teams in their division are Cardinals, Niners and Seahawks. Moves them closer to those three teams. Could also see Oakland or San Diego moving if the Rams didnt.
