Ross is going to speak.....This should be good!

One interesting thing Ross did say is that they want to interview some guys that play games this weekend.

Im wondering if that means new canidates or if they are interested in a second interview for Philbin.

Also, those comments are a great way to put IMPOSSIBLE expectations on a new guy. The Tin Man has more brains than Ross.

It's funny, in the back of my mind, I've really believed you go with people who have something to prove and are younger. That's how I've always worked in my business. I was always fighting that idea in my mind while I was talking to (Fisher). Something told me if I get someone like him with that experience it'd be good. At the same time, I don't feel lost. I believe someone really good who has something to prove is going to be better. New ideas

THis is what I want to hear. I know with an experienced coach like Fisher out of the picture it is easy to be nervous but we really need to find "our guy" a young, hungry coach and not a Hyped up (Fisher, Saban) SOmeone that has already been there (JJ) or a yes man (Sparano)

wow...what encouraging words...pretty much the equivalent of coach speak yet from an owner...owner speak

you and your stupid "i will not be outbid" comments...just shut your mouth...they make you come off as disengenuine as you probably are...

HE didnt say that the next coach would be in the hall of fame he said "hopefully" he will be. To me that should be what every owner hopes to accomplish with a hire. Its like saying our Goal is to Win a super bowl this year. ITs just obvious.

Im sorry Ross lovers, but perpetually making comments like "Young Don Shula" and "Future Hall of Fame Coach" really looks silly when the guy strikes out every time he tries to get a guy he likes. Obviously, he wanted Fisher, and lost. He doesn't know what he wants. He just wants a Hall of Famer. Well Sherlock, so does everyone else!

On what planet is saying "Ideally, we'd like to hire a young Don Shula" a dumb statement? Don Shula is the winningest coach in NFL history (and quite frankly, I don't think anyone will ever match 347 wins), certainly the greatest our franchise has ever had. Why WOULDN'T you want to hire a young Don Shula?

That's just such a weird thing to criticize him for. That's exactly what I'd want him to say.

It's not enough to want a long term, Hall of Fame solution at coach. You have to have some clue how to go about finding said coach. I have no confidence in Ross to get that done. Was Fisher guaranteed to restore glory to the Dolphins? No, as much as I wanted Fisher here, there are no guarantees in the NFL. But you couldn't have faulted Ross for landing him.

Ross horribly bungled the Harbaugh pursuit last year. Then, adding insult to Sparano's injury, Ross fired him during the season (after things were looking up and the team improving) in order to get a head-start on the pursuit for top coaching candidates. Ross struck out on the top candidates. It seems like this was in large part because Ross only did half the job in axing Sparano early -- by wedding himself to Ireland and proclaiming his untouchable GM status, Ross essentially closed the door on the top coaching candidates. Any fool could have told him this -- it was all over these boards as soon as his presser with Ireland was done. Ross knows who to target (Harbaugh, Fisher), but seems to have no idea how to go about getting them. My impression of Ross is that he's tone deaf, bumbling, and probably places his loyalty in the wrong people.

I hope against hope that we luck into the next Sean Payton or Mike McCarthy or John Harbaugh. We might. But the reality is, even if we get that guy, it's going to be blind luck, not because Ross targeted him with conviction.

Yea he was really fighting that feeling in the back of his mind as he waited on fisher to make a choice lol. Ross is so full of it, just like last year where they just talked to harbaugh for hell of it lol. Ross is so excited about these canidates that he will be interviewing more that are in playoffs, he could have interviewed them anyway if he wanted. Two years in a row he failed to land the coach he wanted, great job St Louis and San Francisco beat you out for the coach you wanted. I just hope they make Zimmer coach and maybe we can move forward. If Toub or Bowles are hired I will be pretty down but hope for the best although I cannot think of a worse hire than Bowles.

Now comes the media spin . . . Come on, like Fisher or not, Ross was in 100% on him. He showed this by stopping all interviewing and putting the full court press on by offering big numbers. If he wasn't, he would have been talking to other candidates and exploring all options. Other than Philbin, I have no idea who he'd be planning on talking to that's still in the playoffs? Fisher is going to take NO's DC and beyond him, I'm not sure who else is out there. How about Chud, Billick and some others just sitting and waiting? Doesn't hurt to at least talk to them and compare candidates. While I like Philbin as an option, I'm worried he's going to untouchable for a while and meanwhile all other coaches start to sign with teams. And in the end perhaps Philbin has a change of heart because of his personal tradegy and decides to stay in GB. Would we look like idiots passing on everyone waiting for someone who might not leave?

Again, i recant all the negative stuff i said about ross lately - standing for his position, keeping his guy depsite public outcry and ignorance, and now calling the media and still searching. This guy is doing great right now. glad this jeff fisher soap opera is over with - i dont see the sky falling like most people in the media and in the fan kingdom.

Dont understand how the comment is encouraging. I dont think it should be lauded or criticized. Its just empty rhetoric. But im sure it will be blown out out of proportion either way. Whether its by the pro or anti ross crowd
