Ross: Marshall was going to be cut/Other issues addressed

Agreed, the Marshall trade didn't work out because we ended up getting less than what we gave up two years ago.

Though what does it say about the Bears front office for giving up to high picks for him also?

Well, first they traded for Jay Cutler who I admit I loved coming out of college. He was almost a one man team for Vandy. I'm 100% sure that the reason the Bears traded for Marshall was on Cutler's word. I do not doubt that the two have been in touch and that Cutler pushed the trade.

Marshall?

Please. There was no way he would have just been cut. And of course he is a complete loser the second we trade him for nothing. This statement does more harm than good in my opinion. But things are so bad now that they really cant get worse.

I hated Marshall the second before we traded him, too.

Read the article. Seems like Ross might actually be getting the hang of this. Maybe we should just be patient.

It would seem that those of us on Finheaven that voiced our concerns about Marshall in the first place, have been somewhat vindicated. At least we got two nice years out of the guy before we moved him on and getting two third rounders for him is better than nothing I suppose :rolleyes2:

Another player we brought in that seems to have poor character is Messam but we are very selcective about who we say that with

I'm glad we didnt totally lose out. Just give it time folks, theres a reason for the madness.

It was really only a matter of time.

Chicago fans are ecstatic right now. They'll find out soon enough.

Brandon Marshall is nothing to get excited about. He'll have a very nice 2012 season, after that, he'll mail it in.

Sorry Ross ... I don't believe you ... after all the stuff you've said & not followed through on ... then spun it later ... MORE SPIN!!

Probably a half-truth with alot of spin. Don't believe they would've cut him ... would have kept trying to work a trade which is logical.

Said from the beginning ... I do believe they wanted to trade Marshall ... the face-punch just made them accept the offer on the table.

Understand the FO must keep their plans confidential for strategic reasons ... but IMHO the FO continuously screws up & acts like nothing is wrong ... and THAT is what's wrong!!

Agree with fellow posters, explain actions as soon as they happen ... good or bad!! Fans might not be smart, but they're NOT TOTALLY DUMB either & most have had enough!!

P.S. Ross called the protester for another publicity/spin move ... wants to show he's listening to fans & in touch.

This confirms my thoughts on the Marshall trade. The last thing the new coaching staff wanted was Marshall destroying the psyche and confidence of a rookie QB or even Matt Moore. His post pro bowl interview where he threw Moore under the bus and his lack of self awareness probably turned the coaches off.

As to Matt Flynn, speaking as someone who wanted him signed... I felt that If Philbin really wanted him as his QB, The deal to get him here would have gotten done.

But...but...but he caught FOUR touchdowns!

Glad they got something for him and I would have been very surprised if he was cut outright but I do believe Philbin was concerned about high character.
Its easy to be all about high character when you're getting started. Cam Cameron was up on his soapbox about the same nonsense regarding Ricky Williams until he found himself winless, and Ricky was available.
