Ross sending a message that he accepts mediocrity and failure

The Browns didn't go backward under Chud. The Browns have finished 4-12 or 5-11 every year for like five straight years. The Browns were 3-0 with Brian Hoyer starting at QB. The Browns were 1-12 with Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell starting at QB.

The Browns had no offensive personnel AT ALL other than Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron. NONE. Nobody. NOTHING.

Chud was set up to fail and scapegoated for the incompetence of the team's front office.

Weird situation. They spent almost as little as we did on offense and still have $25 million in cap space, it almost seems like Chud was a one year stop gap all along and maybe they had their eye on one of the big name coaches like Cowher or Gruden to try a true rebuild starting in 2014.

IF Ross is going to make a move, he needs to move fast, because first order of business is dumping Ireland and hiring a top GM candidate. Then the GM needs to evaluate Philbin and the current staff to make sure he wants to hitch his horse to them. That will all take time and there are a lot of teams out there with openings that are already on the prowl.

That is, of course, if Ross wants to approach this in the best manner possible and not take a ****ty half measure

Yes.

My fear right now is that the Dolphins are on the backburner for Ross since he's currently in the middle of working the biggest real estate deal in the history of man.

At this point, I think he has enough information to make a determination on Jeff Ireland. If you're going to keep him (and I'd be pissed), then just announce that you're keeping him and get it over with. If you're going to fire him, then fire him and get the ball rolling.

6 other teams have a head start right now.

The bucs play on fox, the dolphins only played on fox twice this year. Not sure how the bucs would interrupt a dolphins game other than those two games.

Lions fire coach, but hanging onto G.M. Martin Mayhew

In Tampa if the Bucs are on at 1pm cbs doesn't run their game so you get a cbs and fox game at 4-4:25. The Bucs have the rights. Now that said week one the glazies paid a undisclosed amount to make sure every game was in tv and not blacked out.

How many planes must be flown over the stadium before Ross will act?

Owners around the league are taking swift action to show their fans they don't accept failure.

Schiano and Dominik were just fired by Tampa Bay after turning it around after an awful start, yet Ireland and Philbin are still here after an awful collapse after a promising start?

Chud canned for going backwards in Cleveland. Skins, Texans and Vikings all make statements that failure won't be accepted.

Where is Ross? Having tea with Philbin... Letting these clowns get in his ear AGAIN to accept their failure of a product.

If no significant changes are made by the New Year, Ross should just fold his hand and get out of he NFL biz. Unfortunately for us, he won't...

The decisions you cite were all made weeks or even months ago. Up until yesterday, we were the favorite for the 6th playoff spot.

All of those franchises you mentioned underachieved with respect to the talent they had on the roster. I'm not so sure the talent on this roster is 8-8....I'd put it closer to 6 or 7 winds on talent alone.

Well that sucks for you. Over here in jags territory we always get the bucs sunday games when they play on the road, but never the home games.

They had enough talent to win at least 4 more games where they were winning but lost due to poor game management or play calling at the end of games. They had enough talent to beat 4 of 6 AFC playoff teams they played this year.

Stop with this nonsense, they had enough talent to be a playoff team in a weak AFC, but this coaching staff **** the bed.

I'm not hitching my wagon to this bunch of losers again.

I don't think this team has 12 win talent at all. If anything, the fact that this team 'almost' won 12 games (and I don't buy that) would be a testament to the coaching staff.

Detroit: talented team that underachieved
Dallas: talented tame that underachieved
Miami: 7-9 team that finished 8-8

1st Bills Game, Ravens Game, Panthers Game, Buccs Game were all games that were lost by questionable coaching decisions and gameplans. They had the talent to win these games.

They definitely had the talent to win at least TWO of them.

Don't stick up for this sorry coaching staff. Ireland's biggest failure was the OL, but the staff did nothing to compensate for this weakness, in fact, they accentuated it!

How did the coaching staff poop the bed exactly? Do you have specific examples from the last 2 games?

I saw an offensive line that couldn't block consistently, other than maybe every third or fourth play.
Receivers dropping first-down balls that hit their hands.
A QB missing deep throws that would have been TDs.
A talented D-line that got zero pressure on the other QB.
LBs who couldn't cover or tackle well.
A certain CB who gets beat regularly and never makes a play on the ball.

I think the Panthers just straight up beat us. They're a better football team. I don't agree that coaching cost us that game.

As for the others, is it the coaching staff's fault that we couldn't pass protect in the 4th quarter against Baltimore? Is it the staff's fault that Charles Clay drops a critical play to make the field goal easier?

Yes.

I'm wondering if the NFL investigation has anything to do with a delayed announcement regarding organizational "changes". They could be waiting for the report to come out, then fire Ireland to appear to be cleaning up its image if the report is unfavorable. There's definitely some PR strategy to be planned regarding that investigation. Lord Aponte has an agenda and a pulse on the media. I'm sure Ross knows what he's going to do, and at this point is all about media perception.

So that's where the players get their mentality. The owner stands around waiting for someone else to make a play just like the players do. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree in this organization.
