Ross to pay for renovations?

Real estate is literally Ross' primary expertise. So structuring these deals is up his alley.

The $4 million in tax relief seems like chump change. He pays more for a backup qb.

Dolphins will be staying put for a long time. Not a fan of the canopy though, wish they build something permanent instead of glorified tent.

the canopy is not necessary for the superbowl since it is played at night...I really hate that idea because the sun is the dolphins biggest home field advantage in the early part of the season...we started losing it when we got the bubble and stopped practicing in the 200 degree 1000% humidity...

the seats need more leg room more than anything else...I honestly dont know what 400 million is going to do for the stadium...the way the concrete is put together what are they doing to the stadium that improves it so much they can get the superbowl over an new stadium in san fran?

I am assuming that the canopy is just for the fans and not the field of play. Though it will still cast a shadow over the field.

Now that would be a disaster. Miami's government rivals that of Haiti as far as corruption. They'll take money hand over fist and do nothing with the stadium. Look what happened to the Orange Bowl as they let it rot and never maintained it. I think this might end up being the quickest way for the Dolphins to move from Miami if they hand the stadium over to the city.

that stadium being tied to the team helps keep them here...as an owner its hard to justify moving a team when you have a 700 million dollar building however if ross can give the stadium to the city and stop paying various bills...

Renovations would include a partial canopy to shade seats that are now exposed, installing new seats and moving others closer to the field, and upgrading the club level.

i'm sure it also includes a few amenities as well.

These were the proposed plans for the renovations a couple years ago. I'm sure they won't be much different when completed, Ross usually stays the course.

not sure of all the caveats but him paying for the renovations is only right and if he makes that kind of commitment then Im sure the city needs to do some things for him.
We don't need a deal like the Marlins one though. Politicians have been selling out taxpayers for your for the very wealthy nfl

Over a 30 year lease, that covers half the cost of the renovations. Hardly chump change.

I'm sure it's been said, but Ross owns the land surrounding the stadium, too. And that land apparently isn't a part of the deal. He'll take the tax relief on the stadium and develop around it for some potentially nice revenue generation.

well if he can make doing it more power to him, biut not a fan of having him pay no property tax. will see how it plays out.

Exemptions from property taxes are pretty much a standard for sports stadiums.

Whatever the fraction of the renovation cost Ross gets in tax breaks, he should be commended for putting up his own money. Some owners don't give a penny. Some owners shake down their cities for new stadiums even when they don't need one. Ross makes management mistakes (if only he could find a great President of the team), but I'm giving credit where it's due.

These things go incrementally. 30 years ago owners didn't pay for anything. Maybe 30 years into the future owners will pay all taxes, but it's takes a while for that to happen.
