Roth, disappiontment??

Hes not Freeney if thats what you are looking for. Let him develope some moves before comdemning him. Hes got the determination part down.

See that is exactly the part that I wanted to see and haven't. He has yet to show me this maddog side that I have been hearing about. He has just seem as though he is playing in a league over his head. I really don't see this determination part that I expected.
I'm not saying we should cut him, I just expected to see a flash now and then. I have yet to see ANYTHING.

PSSSSS......He has met my expectations. I think he has done pretty good. If he was as good as you guys want him to be right off the bat, He woulda been a top 5 pick. I think with some speed and agility training, a little more weight, some tutoring from JT, and if he stays healthy, He will be ONE of the top DE in the league in a COUPLE years.

i thought he played pretty damn well last nite

Interception fumble creation, and a sack as well I believe... not to shabby. Like we expected him to break into the Starting DE position :shakeno: over taylor and bowens/traylor etc... Hes a stud his motor makes up for his supposed short arms, and will be pretty huge with the fans very quickly (1-3 years max)

I thought Roth has looked solid this pre-season. The guy just has a lot of talent in front of him.

For a rookie he has played well IMO.

watch the interception in slow motion, there is a lot to see, including McDaniels defending him on the sideline.

WTF HES A DAMN ROOKIE!!!!! hes not a 9 year vet the you expect to come in and make a impact automaticly. Gs

Is it just me or does Roth seem slow and stiff?? Especially on the pick while running across the field he looked more like a DT than a DE. I really expected more out of him than what I have seen. He has shown me NOTHING that translates in to big time player down the road.
I don't expect him to be playing like Ware for Dallas, but I would like to see him show me something. Right now I would not be surprised to see him put on the PS.

the fact that he made such a great play as an INT is fact alone that hes good. How can you say this...sheesh, some people just want everything.

hes not first round talent so dont expect anything until next year...this guy is not like zach thomas who was a feak of nature at the fifth round...

He did seem pretty damn slow. On the pick and I noticed him chasing around a RB a couple of times and not even getting close. I wouldn't count him out yet though, the season hasn't even started. Not all DE's have speed.

I agree he looked slow. Maybe he would be better if he gained some weight and became a DT?

The slowness you are referring to is his lack of burst off of the snap. This is something that can be (and will be) trained. He is only lacking NFL moves. JT should be a very good teacher.

You are right, he HAS played well. The problem is that you just can't please some of the people ANY of the time. Roth has certainly played better than the rank at which he was picked. Geez, you would think that some fans would be happy that we are getting any production at all from our later picks.
