Roth, disappiontment??

He looks slow because he plays opposite JT. He will be at least a solid starter in the next couple of years from what I have seen, with the ability to be really good. Patience is in very short supply with Phins fans. I would be f-ing shocked to see him on the practice squad. The Surtain comments are freakin' ridiculous.

The slowness you are referring to is his lack of burst off of the snap. This is something that can be (and will be) trained. He is only lacking NFL moves. JT should be a very good teacher.

Ummm...no.

Excellent point. He has a lot of NFL talent and experience in front of him to learn from. Here's hoping his brain is a sponge.

Is it just me or does Roth seem slow and stiff?? Especially on the pick while running across the field he looked more like a DT than a DE. I really expected more out of him than what I have seen. He has shown me NOTHING that translates in to big time player down the road.
I don't expect him to be playing like Ware for Dallas, but I would like to see him show me something. Right now I would not be surprised to see him put on the PS.

I guess it's just you... Saban said that he's doing pretty well.

Hes not Freeney if thats what you are looking for. Let him develope some moves before comdemning him. Hes got the determination part down.

He also has the speed and quickness... All he needs is technique which he will learn in time...

Nasty

He also has the versatility to stand up in a 3-4 scheme... he's going to have tremendous value in saban's hybrid scheme for years to come... the thread starter is obviously just nit-picking or simply impatient~

You guys are all so wrong! Didn't you see that interception last night? I mean take off that #98 and slap on a #48 and put him in front of Ricky and Ronnie. We know he can catch. Every now and then feed him the ball up the middle and watch the pile move. Jeez!

If so, he is hiding it better than anyone I have ever seen.

No he looks slow beside Traylor. Turk could beat him in agility test. I was expecting a little more from a 2nd pick. I mean Ware from Dallas is playing lights out. Maybe we should have traded up.

See that is exactly the part that I wanted to see and haven't. He has yet to show me this maddog side that I have been hearing about. He has just seem as though he is playing in a league over his head. I really don't see this determination part that I expected.
I'm not saying we should cut him, I just expected to see a flash now and then. I have yet to see ANYTHING.

An INT doesn't count as a flash? You apparently have some incredibly unrealistic expections for a rookie.

Ware was a 1st rder, the 1st of the 2 Dallas had, i think. Our lack of picks this year, and ktown wanted to trade up, as if we are 1 player away from a run, hah.

Right now I'd rather have Surtain then Roth.

i would like surtain too but their is a big problem, the cap, i think it was a good move getting a 2nd round pick and lowering the cap

He is a dissapointment big time.:fire:We couldve gotten a very good qb in the draft instead of him.why did we get him anyway we have plenty of de's

Right...let's keep trading away picks like we don't need tham. Don't you understand that is a large part of why this team is where it's at right now?

Why don't you ask Saban? I'm sure he'll have an answer for ya...
