I challenge you to tell me what very good QB was chosen in the 2nd rd or later buddy.... even the two qbs chosen 1st and 24th overall *smith and *rodgers, are unproven qbs. You cant just make a statement like that, because it's plain dumb. Besides that, the rush to judgement of Roth is absurd on this board, most of his detractors just mimicking scouts and journalists like monkeys with things such as "he's short-armed" or "lack of pass-rushing moves, but at least he has a good motor" bs ... get your own ideas people...

I do agree that picking up another De with our second round pick wasn't the smartest thing but Saban knows what hes doing and he will help Roth grow to be a solid good starter for the Dolfans and maybe even a superstar one day.

I support Nick's decision with Roth. He has a lot of veterans on the Dline, and he is right to mix in the youth with the veteran leadership. If you wait to long, your Dline can become long in the tooth! let's go Dolphins kick some butt!:beerbang:

why not? Do you realize the people on our DL are all old... Carter, Holliday, Taylor, Traylor, Chester, etc... we need an infusion of youth on the line... you dont wait until the line gets too old and ineffective to address the problem... that would be a spielman/wanny way of doing things. You let Roth develop alongside the veterans, and you even draft another DL in the top 4 rds next year. Plus the value at roth's slot was tremendous, he's very similar to David Pollack in many pre-draft scouting reports, and Pollack went to the Bengals at 26th overall...

No he looks slow beside Traylor. Turk could beat him in agility test. I was expecting a little more from a 2nd pick. I mean Ware from Dallas is playing lights out. Maybe we should have traded up.

Is it just me or does Roth seem slow and stiff?? Especially on the pick while running across the field he looked more like a DT than a DE. I really expected more out of him than what I have seen. He has shown me NOTHING that translates in to big time player down the road.
I don't expect him to be playing like Ware for Dallas, but I would like to see him show me something. Right now I would not be surprised to see him put on the PS.

I think it's kind of funny that the example you used of him being a disappointed was on a play that he got an interception. That make sense to anyone?

What I like about Roth is that he's done the little things correctly...I mean making plays isn't exactly a "little thing" but you know, being in the right position, having a high motor, etc. And every week with his passrush it seems like he's just choppin wood at his technique to get himself closer and closer to the QB. He's like Trace Armstrong in a LOT of ways, and I believe the guy can be successful like Trace.
