Rotoworld rips Philbin

What sold me on Philbin's mediocrity (or worse) as a coach were how we came out after long weeks - after our BYE and after 10 days off a few weeks later - we lost both games by a lot. Showed me all I needed to know.

Next year we're probably going to be having a discussion about the "New Hires".

Last year Rotoworld continued to rip Irleand as the worst GM who assembled the worst roster in the league. Now they think we have the worst head coach(laughable).

So let me get this straight, we had the worst GM who assembled the worst roster and was coached by the worst HC. Yet the team went 8-8 and almost won the playoffs. Something doesn't add up with Rotoworld's analysis.

I've said before, I'm not impressed. I think that preparation stuff is garbage because this is not a well prepared team, and one year of his tenure it wasn't even a well-conditioned team, with our players gasping on the field. A late season collapse? We're in the AFC East folks, it's not exactly a powerhouse division. What about teaching? Well, players claim they're not learning anything.

The article makes a point about coaching. Critical job of a HC is to hire the right assistants. Coyle is ok I guess, but Sherman was a security blanket for him. The QB coach is a relative of Sherman's. He hired an O line coach with zero NFL experience, who let the Incognito/Martin thing blow up in our faces. Our best coaches (Rizzi and Dan Campbell) were here before Philbin arrived.

Still, I'm optimistic about the season. Philbin brought in Lazor and an assistant coach from the Texans. I think they're good hires. If our quarterback develops, and we have a good draft and retain some key FA's, we could have a boatload of wins. We'll see.

A HC can be great, which he's not, but if you don't have a great HC you can still have a great team because it really comes down to the coordinators and rest of the coaching staff, the draft, and your quarterback. He can just stand on the sideline and clap or fistpump or whatever he wants to do.

I agree with his assessment, Philbin let his QB get destroyed all yr and did nothing to change the scheme to help him and the OL....The offense was terrible the last two weeks of the season when one win gets you in the playoffs and you were playing two teams you were better than and your franchise QB played probably his worst two game stretch of the season....

Philbin may have RT on a short leash this yr but I bet his leash is shorter......this team can not start slow or he will lose the lockerroom and this team will tank like they did for Sparano.....

I have no love for Philbin and can see him ranked 25, but it is hard to take this guy seriously...

To tell you the truth I was actually surprised it wasn't Even Silva writing the article

Joe is actually a Super Hero.. he looks meek and mild-mannered but when he is goes into the locker room he turns into 'IndexCardMan"...

With his super power ability to incoherently mumble through a dozen or so of index cards before the game and at half-time wearing a T-shirt with the letters 'IC' emblazoned in bright aqua and orange he can quickly and completely destroy any and all motivation.

Here's the real truth: everyone is somewhat correct.

No matter which side you take or explanation you use, there is truth in just about all of it. Proving the level of dysfunction that does exist is insulting.

As for Rotoworld, they use to be a great central source of information. Until their OpEd comments below each news wire became 2 and 3 times longer than the actual news wire. They stopped doing what they were good at and made themselves a self appointed authority on what is wrong and wrong in football.

I would like to see their Junior High and High School football records as cheerleaders. Because I'm sure none of them were man enough to step onto the field with grown men and prove their theories. I read the "news" piece of their posts then skip to the next one. Their site has become garbage.

So Joe Philbin gets ranked the worst coach in the NFL by Rotoworld (only 25 coaches kept their jobs from last year). One might think we just went 4-12....oh that was Oakland's Dennis Allen, who was ranked higher. This arbitrary ranking system doesn't make much sense when you read it from top to bottom.

How is anyone arguing with Roto? Philbin has been awful these last 2 year, he is a statue on the sidelines, he doesnt make adjustments. With needing 1 win in the last 2 games his team scores 7 points. Should of been fired.

I'm actually disgusted with Philbin..

A HC can be great, which he's not, but if you don't have a great HC you can still have a great team because it really comes down to the coordinators and rest of the coaching staff, the draft, and your quarterback. He can just stand on the sideline and clap or fistpump or whatever he wants to do.

Since Ross is in love with Philbin this is all I can hope for, although I really wish that Coyle had been fired along with Sherman. Philbin doesn't call plays, can't make in-game adjustments, and isn't very inspiring. Miami needs talented coordinators to take charge and run the team while Joe is put in charge of throwing the challenge flag and selling popcorn at half-time.

It is amazing how Miami is always the worst in terms of quarterback, head coach, GM and owner. Yet, never are the worst team(with the exception of 2007).

The team with the worst owner, worst GM, worst HC, worst quarterback, worst roster, worst locker room, worst stadium and worst fan support still won 8 games and were one victory from the playoffs. Amazing!
