Thomas is injury prone so far, and we had to rely on Slaton way too much last year, so bringing in competition for Thomas if the price is right is not a bad idea.
His production has washed away and I think he has onl had 1 solid season...the rest have been injury plagued and stale. No thanks...go to war with what we got and maybe draft a late round guy there to groom.

With Bush and Thomas we are in very good shape. No need to bring in a broken down retread for depth. You know what you are going to get with Grant or Jacobs, and it's not much. I'd rather take a chance on a RB in the later rounds of the draft.
How is Grant a broken down retread.
Green Bay platooned their RBs last year, Grant was mainly used for screen plays and 3rd downs. That's a roll I think Reggie can fill easily along with 1st and 2nd down. Reggie should probably get 15-20 touches a game next year (rushing and receiving) and Thomas will get 10 touches or so. I don't expect will try to run as often as we have in the past with Sherman calling the plays. He has a tendancy to be a little pass happy at times.
I think Ryan Grant's value on the FA market this year will be like Ronnie Brown's was last year...Not much, and for not much money. He may not be "broken down" per se, but it's clear he is not close to what he used to be. So, in that case, I would prefer the younger up and comer. Just my opinion though...No idea what Ireland and Philbin think of him and his potential value to the team.
