Rumor about Reggie Bush

The article said his cap hit next year is $5.0M, and then $7.3M in 2014, after which Volin suggested we will be forced to cut or restructure Wake, which I dont necessarily agree with - $9M a year could be a decent deal if he is performing at a high level in 2015. If we cut him we will be taking a substantial hit though.

Thomas is the power back we need (hopefully he steps it up), unless Massam impresses.

What makes you think he's a power back? The two years he played in college running over Big 12 defensive backs? Cause he sure as heck didn't show me any of that last year.

If you're hoping for a bruiser the role will be filled by Messam, or Jonas (if and when he's healthy) not Thomas.

I think a lot of those players will be gone.

Bush has impressed me both on the field and off the field.

He is a well spoken guy, when we were losing he said all the right things. He did all the right things on the field as well. He is made for the west coast offense. Not sure that the back from UM is even close to being the same calibre of player as he is

Really?

how much exactly does the highest paid punter make? Fields was a huge part of the teams wins last year, when the offense would go a quick 3 and out, Fields would pin them deep or at least make it very reasonable for the defense to make a stop before the other team got into FG range, the other part about Fields is his consistency at booming kicks with very good accuracy, announcers have taken notice, and in the AFC East playing in Buffalo NY and NE especially in the colder months with crazy wind and weather he is a very important factor, i know he is "just a punter" but we all saw the difference he can make from last season, he is one of those you dont realize what you have until its gone and we have seen our fair share of bad or inconsistent punters who can shank one and put the defense in a bad spot

Shane Lechler has a base salary of $3.8 million. Add in his signing and other bonuses, Lechler has a cap hit of $5,650,000.

Brandon Fields' base salary and cap hit for 2012 is $1,424,000.

Fields base salary makes him the sixth highest paid punter.

but his cap hit places him outside the Top 10.

Who cares about a punter!? DSteve, honestly, I'm wondering if you even understand what's important to football teams.

Did you watch the Jets vs Dolphins game where he won us the game? Miami was pinned within their own 20 multiple times yet Fields kept booming 55+ net yard punts. If not for him, they easily win that game.

so his cap hit after this year likely jumps to $8.5 mil next year??? i still think its a great deal for us...i thought for sure he would get more...i guess he didn't want to hold us over the coals...which is refreshing...unlike what drew brees is doing to new orleans

Remember, at the beginning of ?OTAs? earlier this year ... Wake skipped a couple & the Dolphins settled something with him. Seemed he was unhappy & later became happy ... not sure about details?

Anyone know what the issues were & what was settled??

Look - winning in the NFL is simple.

1. Have a franchise QB
2. Protect him
3. Be able to get to the other team's QB consistently

That is how you win in today's NFL. Stud RB's are no longer essential. If Bush wants to go somewhere else, there are other RB's out there that would play his role. But until we get that Franchise QB, it won't matter.

Lets let this season play out first before we jump to conclusions!

I doubt this is a foregone conclusion one way or the other. We have to see what his role is in this offense, production, health, what Lamar Miller does, etc. Just way to early to tell
