I only point this out because some people think we have a lot of money to spend but when you look at the number of players we'll need to sign to fill the roster it's not that much money. The league has also told franchises to expect the salary cap to remain flat till 2015.

$17 million guaranteed...only a 3 year guaranteed contract for a top pass rusher...thats a damn robbery...i got to be missing something here

i can't believe in 3 years we can walk away and have only spent $17 mil...that's just crazy to me...hell of a deal for us
Well yes and no, look the rest of this list that needs to be resigned, there is a **** load of work to do by the front office, even if you let guys walk you still have to replace them. Wake is a deal and a half but man there are a lot of players in need of new contracts in the next two years!

Bush has impressed me both on the field and off the field.
He is a well spoken guy, when we were losing he said all the right things. He did all the right things on the field as well. He is made for the west coast offense. Not sure that the back from UM is even close to being the same calibre of player as he is

If he has a similar season to last year's or better I don't see how the fins could justify just letting him walk, especially with all that cap space. I think Ireland will pay him fairly, i hope he isn't expecting anywhere in the area code of Peterson of Chris Johnson money with how those 2 situations have turned out.
The extension is actually $17 million over 2 years. People forget that he was still under contract this year for $650K. The new contract he received doesnt actually start until 2013. Ben Volin's breakdown gives Wake 3 years, including 2012, meaning the extnsion only added 2 years and $17 million to his already existsing contract. I just did my own breakdown and came up with a different number, but it was close to what Volin had.

so his cap hit after this year likely jumps to $8.5 mil next year??? i still think its a great deal for us...i thought for sure he would get more...i guess he didn't want to hold us over the coals...which is refreshing...unlike what drew brees is doing to new orleans
