Rumor about Reggie Bush

Well, it's a number of things.

If Reggie performs just as good as last year he will call for a big contract, and Miller was drafted to replace him.

I think it all depends on how our other 2 RB's perform. Jury is still out on D. Thomas and it seems Miller and Reggie fit the WCO scheme better.

If anything I see D. Thomas getting traded and keeping Reggie and Miller.

Then again, I personally wouldn't get rid of any. Reggie and Miller provide great pass catching RB's and Reggie's versatility makes him gold in the WCO. Thomas is the power back we need (hopefully he steps it up), unless Massam impresses.

I think you are right here.

The Fins could give more attempts to the rookie and DT to keep Bush's production down and thus his pontential next contract down.

Probably wouldn't happen but it has happened in the past in the NFL.

I hope Miller is that good. Bush isn't the best back in the NFL but he is a special talent and I don't think he will be easy to replace.

If Lamar Miller comes out of the gates and has a break out rookie year then there is the potential for him to be gone.? Any credible sources you can list?

While there's a small chance he stays, more than likely logic says he'll be gone. If he has a huge year, he'll want to get paid and we won't want to spend big $$ on a RB when we have a line of young talent waiting in the wings (assuming one or more start to do anything). If he has an ok or bad year, then we'll probably want to move on and take a chance with a younger guy regardless of their performance. The only way I see him staying is if he has a better than avg year and then agrees to a cap-friendly contract next year and the younger guys show nothing this year. Possible, but not likely.

Normally I would say this is just a case of the mind bleeding before it's cut, but a legitimate fear when it comes to losing a Bush that has performed so well.

Well here is the problem with next season, Miami is indeed 60 million or so under the cap but that is because of this list:

Impending Free Agents

LT Jake Long
RB Reggie Bush
QB Matt Moore
WR Brian Hartline
CB Sean Smith
DT Randy Starks
TE Anthony Fasano
P Brandon Fields
SS Chris Clemons
FS Tyrone Culver
OL Nate Garner
OL Ryan Cook

Granted a lot of this list doesn't need to come back but Long will eat up a huge chunk of change, Bush will as well if they don't let him walk. I am also assuming at least 4 or 5 others are retained off this list so that eats up a lot of the 60 million.

Just when im starting to warm up to being a fan of Reggie Bush .... Iv been reading and hearing rumors that no matter how good or bad he plays this season he will more than likely be gone next season............??? Can someone please explain this ? What if he comes out and crushes it like the last 6 7 games last year.....why just let him go after this season???

Your "sources" eh? LOL

if miami wants to retain bush after this year they can probably keep him for around the same 2 year contract he's on right now...provided he stays healthy this year...i think the league minus daboll for the most part looks at bush as a specialist package player and doesn't see him as someone you want to run b/t the tackles very much going forward...i don't think anyones gonna sign him in free agency to be a 20 carry per game back or anything like that...

the plus is despite the mileage he has on him he's still relatively young at 27 to my understanding so someone if not miami probably thinks that they can get another 2 good years out of him...but it's all about his health this year...it's been a big knock in the past and he's gonna have to suit up to cash in like i think he expects to...

if i'm miami and i want to retain him after this year i ween him off some of those inside carries and start working him into the passing game more...trying to save some tread on those tires and some wear on that body...they'll run him into the ground if they keep doing what we did in 2011...

the only must retain on that list is jake long...some other guys it's all about the market and if they're willing to agree to contract extensions prior to free agency...some of those guys could leave after this year and we could replace em no problem

the ones that i'd be having some prelim discussions on would be starks, bush, fasano, fields...any of them talk stupid money see ya...if fields talks i want to be highest paid punter in football as in more than lechler in oakland see ya...

guys who'd have to wait til after the season or take low ball offers are smith, hartline, matt moore (unless he'll take a backup money extension now) fasano might be in the wait til after the season category as well cause they might not like the fit going forward

we can get what we need to get done and acquire impact players in free agency after this season no problem...provided we don't give stupid money to anyone not named jake long...they'll lock up jake

I think it all depends on what he do this season and if theres and if there are trade seekers by the 6th wk.

if ireland and that chick that handles the cap doesn't screw this up we should be able to be major players in free agency next year...money to burn...they better also start thinking about locking up vontae davis...he's a $10 mil per corner easy in free agency

how much exactly does the highest paid punter make? Fields was a huge part of the teams wins last year, when the offense would go a quick 3 and out, Fields would pin them deep or at least make it very reasonable for the defense to make a stop before the other team got into FG range, the other part about Fields is his consistency at booming kicks with very good accuracy, announcers have taken notice, and in the AFC East playing in Buffalo NY and NE especially in the colder months with crazy wind and weather he is a very important factor, i know he is "just a punter" but we all saw the difference he can make from last season, he is one of those you dont realize what you have until its gone and we have seen our fair share of bad or inconsistent punters who can shank one and put the defense in a bad spot

not sure exactly but i think lechlers like $5-6 mil per...oakland always pays out the nose to retain...lechlers a stud...but still...and fields agent if he's worth a damn is gonna want to get in that lechler ballpark if not more...

long is the only one i want to keep from that list.

If sean smith puts out this year, maybe.

A punter? who cares?

Hartline has done nothing.

the others are all either over paid(starks) or no names.
