RUMOR: Dallas interested in acquiring Lamar Miller

I'm out here in the heart of Cowboys country, so I get my fill of Cowboys news whether I want it or not. It's popped up the last few days that Dallas is targeting a RB via trade since the draft didn't go their way as far as RB is concerned. Two names have popped up as potential targets: Niles Davis and Lamar Miller.

I dont have a link because it was on sports talk radio out here, reported by Bryan Broaddus. The guy has a reputation as a responsible journalist with his finger on the pulse of the team, so he doesn't really tend to make outlandish claims or throw **** against the wall to see what sticks. Simply put, if he is reporting this, it's most likely because he was told by someone within the Dallas Cowboys organization that the name has come up.

I am NOT saying it is going to happen, or even that Miami is interested. I am not claiming to have sources anywhere in any way, shape, or form. Again, this is information from Bryan Broaddus, not by me. I just figured it's a slow time in NFL news and this is interesting because I see absolutely no good reason for Miami to move Miller. I believe that with the addition of Ajayi in the draft, rightly or wrongly, someone within the Dallas organization believes Miller may be available, assuming Bryan Broaddus is correct.

Thanks for the info Locke, but doubt it happens. Are they interested in a slot receiver cheap? Rishard Matthews for a 7th.

For a mid round pick and one of their guards? I'd make that deal in a heart beat. The team can pick up a vet RB after training camp cuts.

Trade them Damien Williams for a 4th lol they are desperate

im sure they can find a much better back for a 4th than him

They have at least 4 runningbacks on their roster already better than him anyway.

hypothetical Maddeny scenario...Jones has said he would offer a 1st rounder for a RB, would you take that for Miller?

Absolutely.
We'd then have Ayaji, Damien Williams, and LeMichael James. Add one more back (AP anyone?) and we'd have a pretty nice set of RBs to grow.

I like Lamar Miller, but he's not really THE running back to me, more like the best of what we've had for a while now post-Ricky/Ronnie.

Dallas may figure that they will go deep into the playoffs and a first round choice next year for any running back they deem worthy is worth the price since they basically got a first round graded lineman for nothing.

I'd take a second rounder for miller

I would of course but I doubt we are being offered a 1st for Miller

Well, anything less then a 1st is not even worth the time to even consider, and a waste of time in a trade with Miller involved.

Oo i agree. But that's my way of saying they aren't getting Miller. Unless they give us a starting guard or a 1st. Which i don't think they would

Of the top of your head, which NFL running backs would be worth a 1st if they were going to be a free agent next year?

Almost none but the point is hes more valuable to us right now then a draft pick next year would be. A 1st puts it over the top however. Would you accept a 3rd? I think a 3rd is fair value

None, but to the Cowboys he is worth a 1st round because...

1. The Cowboys are desperate, and everyone knows it

2. Miller with the Dolphins line has average about 4.5 yards a carry, imagine what he can do with the Boys O-line.

3. The Cowboys like Miller, or they wouldn't come asking the Dolphins about a player they know is their starter, no matter who they took in the draft.

4. Wait for that player to reach FA, and they might lose him in a bidding war, trade for him now, and you can negotiate for a deal that might make everyone happy.

5. When Jerry wants someone, or something, he gets it no matter the price, and again, everyone knows this.

6. Miami does not need to get rid of a RB that has proven he can succeed in Miami's offense, and can still be re-signed, the Cowboys on the other hand do need to get a quality RB, or their Offense will take a step back.

A lot of people are high on Jay Ajayi without him even playing one down in the NFL. I wouldn't want them to mess with the backfield at this point.

I think there are much better targets to spend a draft pick on.
Im sure they might trade a 3rd

I don't think they are desperate though. They have Joseph Randle and McFadden.
I cant think of any back they would trade a 1st for outside of Peterson of guys possibly available.

I would inquire about Tre Mason. Joseph Randle seems better though than almost any runningback that they could acquire realistically
