RUMOR: Dallas interested in acquiring Lamar Miller

We didn't trade him.

Yup, we all lived it. And like so many times on this site, the topic is off topic.
We let him "get away with compensation" then if you like. Miami did not do what was needed to keep him. We should not do that with Miller at this point.

If you think we should trade Miller even for a first, you're retarded. Yes, if you are talking about what Miller would be worth on the trade market, its probably more like a second or third, but last I checked the point isn't to have a bunch of draft picks, the point is to win football games. I'm sorry, but to trade away what is easily the best weapon on your offense when what you have behind him is an undrafted free agent, a rookie with a knee so bad most teams wouldn't even draft him, and the ability to sign a guy who played three games for you and had a serious injury in two, that's the height of ludicrous.

Lamar Miller in this offense is one of most effective weapons in the league, and it's not his fault that his offensive staff managed games so poorly that they actually threw the ball 50 times in games where he was averaging more per rush than they were per pass.

Get real. What exactly makes Lamar so great? Fact is, this offense can manufacture rushing yards, it's not Miller breaking tackles or juking defenders. He's not the type of player who's manufacturing his own plays.

Fact is Lamar is middle of the pack in yards before contact and elusive rating (which measures how hard a guy is to tackle aside from blocking) and was top 5 among RB's in drop rate. He's an unspectacular, solid RBBC who is expendable.

With the de-valuation of the position and the fact he's in the last year of his deal it would beyond idiotic to pass on a 1st rounder. Like Trent Richardson stupid.

First rd pick in 2016 would be fair., Miller is that valuable. No for anything less.

funny joke.

i wonder will we even sign him this time next year?

I think it would be a mistake to trade Miller. Ajayi might be a budding star, but he has an injury history.
I really enjoyed watching Miller bust that long run last year. I want to see more. He has improved every year.
We are not deep enough at the position yet IMHO.
There may be behind the scene interest, but I think it is just unfounded rumor.

The injury was 3 years ago...it hardly in and of itself makes Miller unmovable.

I'm not suggesting we should trade him....but it always should depend upon the offer.

Miller is on the last year of his rookie deal....so your probably going to have to pay him next year or lose him anyway.

I'd move him for Collins.

i love me some lamar but he gets almost a little too much love here at times.....i'll be happy keeping him, but are you guys ready to pay him a full length rb contract? how much of his success last year was him vs this space scheme lazor's got going? i can't believe people are even hypothetically turning down a 1st round pick for him.......really? if we can get some corn and/or a late rounder....pop it off......

I have the opposite opinion. He is often maligned and under appreciated. Anyone who thinks he is a middle of the pack RB hasn't been watching him play.

I never start my Sunday morning thinking..." I can't wait to watch Miller run ". Long and the short of it, he gets what ever yards he can, and the passing offense does the rest. I don't look for TD's from the backfield, unless it's from 2 yds in..If you can't get the 1st downs...you're off the field. To me, he's not a physical back. He's like Bush....real flashy, not a beast.

They won't move Collins imo, not for Miller. I bet they would for AP though.

Didn't expect this from you Gonzo. Just make your point. When you say "people still don't know what happened", just make your point. Or is it as simple as Trading Miller would have nothing in common.
Well it would. The commonality would be letting go of a good player you didn't have to. Don't get your point at all. The OP made a valid statement.

I made my point, there's no comparison. As for the Welker deal, it's been explained ad nauseam on here and in the media since it happened 8 years ago, so no, it's not on me or anybody else here to explain how that "trade" went down; and no, it wouldn't be anywhere near the same situation as trading Miller in the last year of his contract for a 1st (which most certainly won't happen because no team would give up a 1st for him, especially with only one year left).

It is the typical my **** is worth more than your **** argument lol.

A fresh running back right out of college is hardly worth a 1st round pick anymore but a back three years out of college with 2500 all purpose yards is....the math is dumbfounding to me at times.

Trading an above average player (at best) in the last year of his contract for a 1st would make us "retarded" (your parents failed)?

How many times has this team traded away talent for draft picks, starting with Patrick Surtain and Ogunleye in like 2003-2004, and how many times has this franchise turned those draft picks into 1/2 the player we traded away? (Hint: we're batting near 1.000 in failure). That's why its pretty clearly a terrible move to trade away your best offensive weapon and one who has no clear replacement on the roster.

The goal is to win football games, not acquire draft picks. Draft picks are a means to an end, not an end.

Some of these comments are so laughable on here. If Miller isn't on this team, we have no running game whatsoever. Ajayi? Damien Williams? Lolol. Unreal the nonsense that can be read on this site.

For some reason people already think Ajayi is a feature back in the making despite never even having seen him on an NFL field. Just because he was a good draft gamble doesn't mean anything about that gamble working.

If he was as sure a thing as many on here think he would not have been passed by every team in the nfl including us multiple times.
Hell he wasn't even our favorite player in the fifth round.

Nobody is giving up a first for any player that isn't an absolute superstar .... Simple as that .

I love Miller ... He's a solid back and a product of the U. That being said if if was offered a first rounder id take it and probably feel
Guilty of grand theft because that would be borderline that ....
