I would be shocked, at this point, if we won 4 games much less 6-8 regardless of who is QB. I am interested in seeing how Moore looks as the starter against the Jets and can't help having some glimmer of hope that we can turn this around. However, the chances are nearly zero that we could reach the playoffs at this point; we are not mathmatically eliminated but it would absolutely require a miracle. Also, many of the teams that I counted as wins before the season are playing very good football and we are definitely not.
So far as Orton goes, it makes absolutely no sense to me to spend anything to bring in someone who we know is not the answer, who may screw up our chances of getting someone that may very well be the answer, and who will cost additional draft picks and money against the cap just so that we can maybe reach the bottom end of mediocre for one season. I am more than willing to endure another horrible season if we can put together a winning formula for the future. If we reach 6-8 wins with what we have or can sign off the street, great. We will choose the BPA or hopefully, trade up to get a potential franchise QB. However, if we have to pay any type of draft pick or utilize any future cap space for a stop-gap then I absolutely say NO!
I definitely tend to agree with you. As much as I still want this team to win I think we will be in a position for at least one of the top QB's. I think even if we win 6-8 games and have a mid 1st round pick we will trade the house to get Luck, Jones or Barkely (or possibly stay put and draft griffin III).
