RUMOR: Stephen Ross wants Jon Gruden AND to keep Jeff Ireland

i would agree with the draft side...although i still don't think he got great value with his picks relative to what was on the board it does look like he got some guys who can help us for the long haul this year...but his pro player personnel decisions and evaluations of other teams players and cuts well thats been downright woeful...you bring in marc colombo and think its a good idea and start him on your oline and i don't care what you do your grade needs to take a major hit...and if this is the way you envisioned using reggie bush point blank you should have never traded for him in the first place

But who's to say that Sparano isn't solely behind the Colombo signing? And the way they use Reggie is probably Sparano too.

its possible but ireland saw colombo a plenty in dallas when he was there also...as for reggie if your oc doesn't have a great plan for getting him in space and taking advantage of mismatches and can draw it out for you you shouldn't be in the bush trade market...this up the middle crap we keep seeing and him the single back on short yardage is nothing short of failure in every way...dabolls use of bush has sucked

and the gm takes the fall for failed personnel decisions...at least he should...my guess is colombo was just as much ireland as sparano and bush was ireland and daboll together

The whole Bush thing was crazy. Everyone and their brother saw that Bush should be getting 30% and Thomas 70%, but the geniuses in our FO saw what no one else saw apparently and told us the exact opposite. We're not even halfway into the season and Bush has all but been relegated back to his scatback role and Thomas is now the feature back. Who didn't see this coming honestly? This isn't even a knock on Bush. I think he's a nice piece and a nice weapon who hopefully will be a big asset for the next QB(hopefully Luck) next year.

And what should drive fans absolutely crazy about the whole Ireland thing is there is absolutely no accountability with this guy. There's always some convenient excuse, it's never his fault. It's always Parcells, Sparano, Daboll, Ross, you name it. Has Ireland ever made a bad pick? Because listening to him and his defenders I get the feeling he has nailed absolutely every pick he's ever made, and every bad personnel move can be pinned on someone else.

Ireland has final say over personnel decisions written into his contract. That's just a fact. So anyone saying "it wasn't him" on any number of our moves -- both in the draft and on the pro personnel side -- is just engaging in excuse making. If Jeff Ireland couldn't stand up to Tony Sparano on the likes of Marc Colombo then he's a ***** and not up to his job. And if he couldn't watch the tape and see the guy needed to be put out to pasture then he's not qualified to be an area scout much less a general manager. And that's just one of the moves that has us in the shape we're in.

If Gruden is eager to work with Jeff Ireland then that just proves that no NFL team has come anywhere close to offering a him a job since he got ran out of town in Tampa. The guy is "hungry" to be an NFL head coach like Reggie Bush was "hungry" to be a feature back.

The bottom line is if we get the #1 pick then all is well no matter what. Inept ****heads like Jim Caldwell can succeed at head coach if they have Peyton Manning. But if we don't have that pick, then I'm scared ****less about Gruden wanting to switch to some modern version of the veer that these college teams are running with the likes of RG3 as the trigger man. Because that **** is just going to waste the next five years of my life waiting for it to be over.

I would rather start fresh with another PP guy. Good bye to Ireland. Time to purge Parcells influences from the franchise. There are plenty of established PP guys(like Thompson/Wolf in green bay:hump:) that might be interested if the $$$ are right. They would be a better match with Gruden. Ross needs to get serious and start tossing the cash around.

Screw Ireland...

Odrick instead of Dez Bryant...get the **** out

Also he is in love with Cowboys trash...another reason to get him the hell out.

end thread...

and if you really look at it what has daboll done thats been so great...we know he's butchered the reggie bush acquisition with his usage...we haven't seen a whole lot of motion with marshall to get him off coverage or any real crossing routes or rub routes or double moves thru 4 games in the gameplan...to me he's better than dan henning which goes without saying but this guys average...he could leave tomorrow and i wouldn't care...if this is all he's got to offer...and if you're gonna have to constantly protect colombo at right tackle limiting how many options you can send dow the field with an extra lineman news flash dip ****s take colombo out of the damn lineup

It says work with Ireland in some capacity, hopefully Jeff is retained as a janitor.

I agree Death star. That whole incident was ridiculous. Edds was another blown pick and Burnett has not lived up to the hype. I also did not like the way Crowder was handled. There are just so many examples of taking junk and giving up on players without any compensation. Ireland has failed quite a bit.

and how the hell spitler is still stealing an nfl paycheck is beyond me...he's not even a good special teams player...but he's active EVERY DAMN WEEK

keep in mind that jeff ireland was incharge of this years draft and drafted... mike pouncey, daniel thomas, clyde gates, and jimmy wilson, and charles clay... just saying! looks like a great draft to me
