### According to a source with direct knowledge, there is no truth to a CBS report of friction between Philbin and team executive Dawn Aponte. Their relationship remains strong and their job duties do not put them in position for conflict.
And contrary to Jason LaCanfora's report, it was owner Stephen Ross – not Aponte --- who hired former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum as a consultant.
Aponte and Tannenbaum get along well, but her job does not entail hiring of consultants. That’s Ross’ domain as owner.
Aponte reports to GM Dennis Hickey, who reports to Ross. And Philbin also reports to the owner. It’s a simple structure that has worked well since Hickey came on board, because Hickey has shown a willingness to get Philbin’s input on personnel.
Though Philbin and Jeff Ireland didn’t see eye to eye, Philbin and Hickey are getting along fine, according to the source with direct knowledge.
Philbin’s biggest challenge is whether he wins enough games this season to earn a fourth season as coach. But there are no ongoing office politics that are going to doom Philbin, contrary to that CBS report.
LaCanfora does some good work, but he has irked the Dolphins with several other inaccurate stories about them, including his persistent reports in March and April that the Dolphins were trying to trade Mike Wallace.
I'll tell you why I believe this report. David Canter, who represents a number of Dolphins players, has been ripping on the coaching staff for two years. He was no big fan of Jeff Ireland, but when we fired Ireland he came out and said that Ireland was essentially being scapegoated when more parties deserved blame.
He's getting that from somewhere, and being that he's an agent, that somewhere has got to be players on the roster.
If Miami trades for a coach...that will be one incredibly stupid deal. If a team wants to get rid of a HC so bad let them fire him, don't sacrifice future players for it.
Joe was wrong how he handled RT this week. HOWEVER, where does Dawn Aponte get off critiquing the coaching and play of this team?
I snicker at all of those that stated that Aponte "just did contracts" and was more on the "calculator end" of the team. WRONG folks.
She will impede good candidates coming to Miami. She needs to be fired.

Caution: it is a JLC thread. However, it is Fins related. IF remotely, true…Dawn Aponte is dangerous. Said it last year and say it now.
I agree I've been calling her snakeponte for a while. She is a snake
He produces good results wherever he goes. As for this talk of losing the locker room, look at the source of the story. Why does everyone want Harbaugh so bad....dude is getting bad press in San Fran for losing the locker room and being at odds with the Front Office....
This isn't a ringing endorsement of Philbin and would be happy to see him go, but there has to be a better option then Harbaugh...
