Rumors- JLC: Divide Between Philbin and FO/ Ross may trade for Harbaugh

You should have known better than to trust a LaCanfora report...

### According to a source with direct knowledge, there is no truth to a CBS report of friction between Philbin and team executive Dawn Aponte. Their relationship remains strong and their job duties do not put them in position for conflict.

And contrary to Jason LaCanfora's report, it was owner Stephen Ross – not Aponte --- who hired former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum as a consultant.

Aponte and Tannenbaum get along well, but her job does not entail hiring of consultants. That’s Ross’ domain as owner.

Aponte reports to GM Dennis Hickey, who reports to Ross. And Philbin also reports to the owner. It’s a simple structure that has worked well since Hickey came on board, because Hickey has shown a willingness to get Philbin’s input on personnel.

Though Philbin and Jeff Ireland didn’t see eye to eye, Philbin and Hickey are getting along fine, according to the source with direct knowledge.

Philbin’s biggest challenge is whether he wins enough games this season to earn a fourth season as coach. But there are no ongoing office politics that are going to doom Philbin, contrary to that CBS report.

LaCanfora does some good work, but he has irked the Dolphins with several other inaccurate stories about them, including his persistent reports in March and April that the Dolphins were trying to trade Mike Wallace.

It seems like he really gets away with just making stuff up out of thin air.

Grimes was also saying the reports that players were upset with Coyle were totally false too.

Wow, just wow. This thread is unreal.

First off, I think we ALL know what jack ass LaCrapforu is and not once has has any of his bogus half-witted rumors ever come close to being a near truth. Then everyone runs with this bogus rumor of his and starts slamming Aponte for no good reason. None. Unless, of course, you believe the imbecile. Reading through this was like a game of "telephone" where everything gets over-exaggerated and the unfounded speculations grow as it goes on.

I'll tell you why I believe this report. David Canter, who represents a number of Dolphins players, has been ripping on the coaching staff for two years. He was no big fan of Jeff Ireland, but when we fired Ireland he came out and said that Ireland was essentially being scapegoated when more parties deserved blame.

He's getting that from somewhere, and being that he's an agent, that somewhere has got to be players on the roster.

And that my friend is exactly the clue that should point out that this rumor is false. Canter is an agent, whom makes his money from negotiating player contracts. Well, well. Guess who is the brilliant mind and salary cap guru in which he has to deal with in the Miami Gardens offices. That's right, Dawn Aponte.

Aponte is extremely intelligent and a very well respected executive around the NFL. And to add, she is a consummate professional and has always declined any interviews (**** you, JLC) to stay clear of any accusations or assumptions of her being a power-hungry corporate ladder climber.

Leave the JLC bull**** at the door and be sure to bag it and light it on fire. And if you actually believe it, go ahead and step in it.

If Miami trades for a coach...that will be one incredibly stupid deal. If a team wants to get rid of a HC so bad let them fire him, don't sacrifice future players for it.

We gave up a first for Don Shula.

Well, punished was more like it. For tampering.

Anybody want to grouse about that in retrospect?

Joe was wrong how he handled RT this week. HOWEVER, where does Dawn Aponte get off critiquing the coaching and play of this team?

I snicker at all of those that stated that Aponte "just did contracts" and was more on the "calculator end" of the team. WRONG folks.

She will impede good candidates coming to Miami. She needs to be fired.

the underlying issue is ROSS. aponte cant do anything he isnt ALLOWING her to do. i am with you as i NEVER wanted her here and wanted her gone with ireland and sporano.

but, i dont know about the harbaugh thing. ross's reputation started off with a permanent hit over the first harbaugh scandal. and now he is repeating it by AGAIN going after JH while our coach is still in place?

ross is bad but i am hoping he is not THAT bad. if he does this, he is DONE in nfl circles and we wont ever get a decent coach again while he is here after harbaugh fails.

dennis hickey must be wondering what the hell he walked into if all this is truly going on behind the scenes.

Why does everyone want Harbaugh so bad....dude is getting bad press in San Fran for losing the locker room and being at odds with the Front Office....

This isn't a ringing endorsement of Philbin and would be happy to see him go, but there has to be a better option then Harbaugh...

I dont buy any of this unless Philbin fails.

Its too soo for failure. AFC EAST is right there for the taking. Not going to happen now. later? maybe.

But getting rid of your coach right now is the stupidest thing there ever was based on getting beat by a good KC team?

yeah JLC. got to be starting something.

I have said in the past that Joe will become ignored by Dawn should things go bad but that could go for anyone. Dawn doesnt run the team, but her opion will be heard by Ross.

I agree I've been calling her snakeponte for a while. She is a snake

I'm no Aponte expert. What don't you like aside from her having power and backing. All I've heard is she didn't get along with Ireland and might not like Philbin. Sounds like a lot of fans.

He produces good results wherever he goes. As for this talk of losing the locker room, look at the source of the story.

When La Confora's report of Cameron Wake and Mike Wallace being traded come true I'll start to believe his "sources", until then the only thing his reports are good for is wiping my butt with.

yeah again guys, JLC is by far the worst insider out there. He constantly makes **** up, gets called out for it by other professionals, and even got leaking draft picks wrong WHEN HE WAS SITTING IN THE WAR ROOM.

And also, Harbaugh is a pipe dream. If he leaves the bay area (where he and his family have been since 2004) it's going to be for Ann Arbor.
