According to offensive guard Vernon Carey the solution is simple. Put more of the load on the offensive linemen to get their job done.

The ground game, which is averaging an impressive 4.4 yards per carry after five games, happens to be the one thing this offense has going for it this season

Against the Jets in the red zone rookie tailback Daniel Thomas carried the ball five times and gained nine yards. Only only one of those runs produced a negative play.

The Dolphins threw the ball five times in the red zone and only completed one pass(20% completion rate), which was good for a 15-yard gain to tailback Lex Hilliard.

One drive turned into a pick-six when Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis transformed a pass intended for Brandon Marshall into at least a 10-point swing, and Dan Carpenter kicked two chip field goals in the first half when another two drives stalled after attempting to pass for a score failed again and again.

3 times, twice at the 3 yard line and once at the 7 yard line, we "attempted" to pass the ball and failed coming up with -1 point.

We do not have a very good QB, our OL run blocks better then pass blocks and we have no WRs we can count on. Yet we do seem to run the ball well and our OL is run blocking better.

I'm not totally sure we are trying to score touchdowns when we get into the redzone but running seems to be a better idea of getting one then trying over and over to pass when we have no success at it.

Running the ball, a recipe for success in today's NFL. Pause. Not.

DBs aren't even allowed to play defense anymore, it's laughable to think we need to run the ball more. Look at the record passing yardage being put up this season, the absurd amount of points being scored. You know why we're not part of that? Because we can't throw the ball worth a crap.

I think that was the point. We can't throw worth a crap in the red zone, so we should run it....which is the only place we have consistent success.

I agree, when we are within 10, hand it to DT and let him pound. Kid is showing he intends to be a beast to take down.

I am all for running the ball. I am all for passing the ball. Problem with this team for the last 3 years is we do one when we should do the other. It has been a constant barrage of mismanagement. 3rd and short we throw. First down 1 minute left need a score and 60 yds to get in position we run.

I would like to see us run the ball more in the redzone, but its not easy.

The team is just not excecuting.

Don't get behind the chains and don't lose yardage on run plays

Crazy idea. Do more of what we do well, and do less of what we do poorly.

P.S. I do not care if we pass 100% of the time or run 100% of the time. We should simply do what we can do. And do not do what we can't. It is so freaking simple!

Am I the only one thats curious to know what the hell happened to the screen on this team?

Are we gonna use gates for more than the 9 route..bubble screen? End around? Line bush wide as a WR?

Daniel Thomas has missed 2 games, Reggie Bush is averaging 3.5 yards per carry, Chad Henne is averaged 7.5 yards per carry. The HBs of this team are actually averaging exactly 4 yards per carry when counting Hilliard, Slaton and LJ 4 total runs..

Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas together only average 4.1 yards per carry.

We have rarely used him in the 9 route or in anything much except for kick returns which he is poor at. I thought the idea would be to mix him into the offense on screens, end arounds, and simply more downfield routes. I also thought we would use Gates in at least 3-5 plays per game.

I think what has happened this season is our offense has been so unbalanced. We wanted to be R Bush driven team and we have become a "throw it to B Marshall" team.

P.S. What I'm saying here is that our offense has no identity. We have some square pegs that our coaches are trying to pound into round holes.

And during this time this D Thomas kid has been running really well and it makes you wonder what would happen if he had 25 carries in a game.

Agreed, we actually tip our hand when he comes in the Game...pretty much he's going deep! I dont know what happened to some of the creativity we started to see in the preseason...I would love to see gates in the slot...spread the damn field trips on one side...Bush spread wide to the other side(especially against a defense like the Jets)! Isolate him 1 on 1 with a LB or a Safety!
