Russell Wilson could have been a Miami Dolphin

Barry Jackson ‏@flasportsbuzz
Regarding@armandosalguero's excellent Russell Wilson post, his people said at time that Fins never showed much interest.Height concerned them

odds on hitting with a similar physical makeup are rediculously low so i wouldn't blame them...

Not surprised to see people putting Russell down. A possible 2-time Super Bowl champion QB. Meanwhile, a guy who's never gone over .500 in a season is propped up as god's gift. A guy who had a legendary meltdown to end the 2013 season.

Anyone else care about winning or just a few of us?

You no thanked me for saying Wilson was great but i'm happy with our guy.

very pissy don't you think ????

messed up or just REALLY didnt work out at all???

I guess both, Miami messed up because they should have done their homework on what type of linemen he was, and how tough, but he also has not worked out at all in Miami and in San Fran (As far as 9ers, just going on what my co-worker who is a 9ers fan has said).

Football is a tough sport for the weak of heart and mind.

Tannehill could have been a Seahawk:

ven after they signed Matt Flynn, is there any truth to the rumor that Seattle still may have interest in Tannehill?

Pete Carroll certainly hopes he falls to them at No. 12. But as the report on sbnation.com states, for that to happen, there have to be many breaks:

"Still the most likely scenarios are Tannehill to Cleveland at four or Miami at eight. But why 11? Because teams around the league know how much Seattle loves Tannehill. And you can write this down: If Tannehill were to be there at 12, Seattle would take him, even though the Seahawks just paid medium dollar for Matt Flynn in free agency. That's how much Seattle loves him."

The big question for the Hawks: Would they have drafted Tannehill with the 12th pick if the Dolphins had not picked him eighth overall?
“(GM John Schneider) had a real high grade on Ryan,” Carroll told reporters, per The News Tribune. “He was very excited about him because he was such a good athlete. He ran the ball well; he had been a receiver. He has a terrific makeup for the position; he’s a smart kid with a real natural throwing motion. We really thought he was a very, very good prospect.”

Picking Russell would have required far more balls and brains than Ireland ever had. I'm fine with Tannehill, but at the time I was squawking loudly for a Kuechly then Wilson draft. The circumstances, the performance, and the demeanor of Russell Wilson coming out of college were some of the most impressive I've ever seen. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that he is what he is. Props to Griese for seeing it. And for the record Wilson would have been successful wherever he went. People have been desperately trying to excuse away his success for years now and it's been nothing but pathetic since the beginning.

Russel Wilson made 2 passes in OT of the NFC championship game that Ryan Tannehill has yet to make in 3 years! Sorry to say it!

How many times has Ryan Tannehill seen cover zero? You know what that means I assume.

I'm very frustrated with fellow fans propping up QB's that don't win. It's been going on for quite some time. Last time this team won double digit games, the QB deserved plenty of praise. Before and after that, it's nothing but losing. Winning QB's correlate with success, plain and simple. No one wins in spite of their QB. Not in the last decade.

He has thrown 3 int's 4 times in his career though. Including that nasty jets loss at the end of last year.

i'm not sure if that's right or not but if it is a rookie week 1 starter starting 48 games in the 3 years he's been in the league and only having 3 games with 3 ints in them is pretty damn good...that's one a year...despite everything else going on around him...trying to think...week 1 his rookie year at houston a buffalo road game his second year i want to say and the week 17 game at home vs the jets in 2013...

EXECUTE HIM :rolleyes2:

I am wrong, I read your post as 4 int's 3 times

While I do believe Russell Wilson is a special player and would love to have him as our QB, I don't fault the Dolphins for their skepticism toward Bielema's promises.

It's so easy to look back and say "We should've drafted Kuechly in rd. 1 and Wilson in rd. 2 and we'd be set right now", but the truth is no one could've predicted Wilson going to 2 super bowls in his first 3 years in the league. And also, no one can guarantee that having Bielema as our HC and Wilson as our QB would = instant success.

So yeah, this can be seen as another disastrous episode by our front office (and we've had plenty), but like I said, that's easy to say 3 years later.

That's an important aspect of it -- HC. Wilson's current HC is not Bielama, who I didn't even know his name until I read this thread, it's Pete Carroll.

Just because we pick up Russell Wilson doesn't mean he's got a great team, NOR, a great head coach to play for. Wilson + Philbin I'm not convinced is great success, since it's been my belief as well as many here on FH that Philbin is a substandard NFL head coach. That's who we had at the time and who we're still rolling with.

Tannehill is a fine young QB. He makes mistakes, but so does Wilson. However Wilson's team around him is not only Good, but has been consistently improving in many facets. The only headcases I can think of that were in Seattle this year are Marshawn Lynch, and Percy Harvin. One happens to be a stud player who still plays hard despite his off-the-field media stunts, and Harvin was promptly dismissed. Seattle's team, and HC, are GOOD. We simply don't have that. Us not being in super bowls starts at the top (Philbin, Ireland's acquisitions), not with the QB position.

Teams win SBs, pal, not solely QBs.

Using your logic, Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino. Get real.
