Ryan Tannehill: 'I have to make a big jump'

Well that was disappointing. Rather than a serious discussion of the most important position on our team we get the same tired retreads cluttering every thread that has the word Ryan in it. Can we please just start an I Hate Tannehill forum for WV, Wallace and bird33?

hilarious how the tannehill lovers go ape sh*t if you dare criticize their boy....he could be 15-17 as a starter, have a career 79 qbr, absolutely choke in the two most important games of his pro career, have no leadership qualities at all, awful pocket precense and they'd still worship this kid.....oh wait...

On topic (I should have said this from jump) I like the fact that Tannehill recognizes the fact that he really has to step up. As stated earlier at least he just isn't giving the same 'ol answer. By saying he has to "make a big jump" he is putting the responsibility of winning on his own shoulders. Not only is that being self aware, it is showing leadership. Let's not forget that he is already holding practice with his receivers (those that show up) before any team scheduled practices. That shows initiative.

As for those crying about pocket presence. I won't lie and say he doesn't need to work on it, but he needs to be able to trust those in front of him in order to build that pocket awareness. Very rarely last year did the line hold together long enough for him to get set for a good throw. You can talk all you want about those last two games. The thing is had the line not had a melt down in the middle of the season there is a good chance those last two games wouldn't have mattered. Had the line held we should have gone into those games with the ability to rest some starters.

Now, if the line gels this year and Tannehill takes a step back then I am all for throwing him under the bus. Same for Philbin. I am firm believer in giving someone three years to improve. With Tannehill it was his rookie year, a year he was suppose to sit but didn't. He didn't do too bad as a rookie. His second year wasn't bad either, but could have been much better with a better line. This year is the prove it year. If he proves he can get us to the playoffs, great. If he can't then he needs to get the ax.

nah the horse is far from dead. cause after the horse leads us to 4-7 wins this year we're gonna have to start all over again and find a qb. the groundhog decade and a half from hell...

This is exactly the problem these tannehill guys refuse to acknowledge. I'd like to see this franchise turn it around. Bit looks like we are going to have to wait longer.

I just hope he doesn't press because he's "suppose" to make this "big jump"

Obvious trolls should be banned... They make the site unreadable...

The only thing that is hilarious is how desperate you are for attention. No leaderships skills ... Asshat comment

Isn't it cute how the little trolls all stick together, sort of romantic.

I think he's nervous because he doesn't have anything from Lazor to work with yet. But you know, this is what all QB's go through, he'll have to learn something new. And yes, I think he may also be realizing that the honeymoon is over. It's not enough to be anointed by Ross and then make incremental progress. Hickey has said he believes in taking a QB every year until you hit on one. So who knows, he make take one to develop. I think having someone on the sideline that represents competition, would be a good thing for him.

I think he'll definitely play better this year than last, I just don't know how much better. We'll see.

Good.

Lord.

1) Tannehill has not led anyone to a 4 win season.

2) Most sensible people on this site acknowledge that Tannehill has flaws. But please note that this site is not, has never been, and never will be intended as an unbiased source of reporting and evaluation. THIS IS A MIAMI DOLPHINS FAN SITE. We are not blind or stupid, but rooting for our Qurterback does not make us a problem.

3) Your continual and over-the-top criticism of Tannehill lacks anything resembling credibility. You know why? Because your site name is based on a limited, me-first, no-hands, poor route-running, skittish, lazy, selfish, won't-adjust-to-the-ball-in-the-air diva of a receiver. But, hey...at least he's fast.

Now, do I believe most of the adjectives I just wrote about Wallace? Of course not. But there have been whispers about every single one of them from one source or another. It doesn't make them true, and you're ALLOWED to root for Wallace without acknowledging them. Because, again, this is a Dolphins fan site.
