Saban is playing the media.

I love how when Nick answers a direct question with a relatively short, honest answer, he's suddenly throwing up smokescreens and leaking disinformation. He was asked about Boston, and his answer was "We'd talk to him." Pretty straightforward, if you ask me.

Notice Saban isn't answering questions about who the starting QB will be next year. Notice Saban isn't answering questions about JT's future with the team. Notice Saban isn't talking about our offensive scheme. Notice Saban isn't talking about our defensive scheme. All he's talking about these days is two players that aren't even on the team, and of this he'll answer all questions. To you guys that don't see this......slowly pull away from Ricky and Boston's jock straps now please.

i think he sees ricky as future value to this team by bringin him back for however many games he can play this year and the trade him next year

Seems everyone is falling in love with the word "smokescreen" Everything Saban says or doesn't isn't BS. Besides, word of Ricky and Boston hasn't came ONLY from Saban. If that were the case, then it would be easier to agree with your post.

Yeah, I'm gettin pretty sick of the word "smokescreen", I think its time to retire it

I think Saban sees talent in both Boston and Ricky. A good coach can manage bad character players as long as they bring it on the field.

I truely believe RW quit on Wanny and not the phins. I think he has nothing against our players, but had major problems with the coaching staff. He came here so he wouldnt be the only star player. So the season wasnt on him alone. So what does wanny do? He turns all the focus on Ricky. Ricky saw the train about to wreck and got off. I cant blame him, Ive quit jobs that I thought were poorly managed. If your heart isnt into something, and you leave that situation because of it, you are not a quitter. You are just honest. RW couldve stayed and mailed it in last season. Which, imo, wouldve been worse.

Saban sees a couple of talented guys and sees little risk in bringing them in, if they fail, he cuts them, no big bonus' hitting our cap. Little risk, lots of reward. It only makes sense.
That's a very persuasive argument. I'd love for that to be true or at least partially true.

I wouldnt mind bringing back Boston, but Im against ever letting Ricky play for the Fins. I just dont think it will be good for lockerroom chemistry. I mean Ricky basically just quit on the team last year and I dont see the returning players ever really trusting Ricky ever again. But I do think Ricky deserves another chance to play, I just dont see the problem if the guy wants to smoke a little weed, hes got social anxiety disorder and he gets the crap kicked out of him on the field year round, why cant he just toke up once and awhile? But I still think if he came back to the Dolphins it could be very, very bad. If we cant trade him, Id just waive him and cut our our losses.

Exactly. Its a win-win situation for us.

I agree, I didn't blame Ricky one bit. I thought it was hilarious. for a guy that is 90% of your O, and getting paid chump change, in a ridiculous mess, I would of quit too. 90% of the O, which is 50% of the team, should be getting 40% of the money. Was Ricky makin 25 Million last year? Nope. Adios then....

Where's the Point?

All this Boston talk and Ricky talk is a smoke screen. Saban's playing the media by throwing them a bone and deflecting the media eye off his current players.

Hmmm... No explanation, huh? No reason behind why he would do this, what he could gain?

He's just doing it cuz he can, right?

Well Megatron, I believe that you saying that Saban is playing the media is ALSO a smoke screen. I believe that YOUR belief that Saban's willingness to talk to Ricky and David Boston is a smoke screen, is in fact, a SMOKE SCREEN.

I think that you're just saying that. I don't think that you actually believe it. And I ALSO believe that you're posting these thoughts as a way to kind of... I don't know... throw us readers a bone or something.

Please, don't ask me to explain WHY I believe this about you or WHAT led me to reach this conclusion.

It's enough that you know that I know that what you say you know is just for show, y'know.

If you want to avoid postings like this in the future, next time you write up a posting make sure to include a point. And backing up your opinions with examples, anectdotes, links and videos doesn't hurt either.

Otherwise we'd all spend all day posting "Vanilla is Osama's favorite flavor" and declaring it as fact.

Anyway... food for thought.

come on guys! Look at Agua's signature. it busts A. Salguero for babbling out multiple reasons for his actions. Ricky did no less. Okay, I will give the benefit of the doubt to those who feel he was justified in leaving, but the point is how he left! He changed his story 3 or 4 times; restrictive rules, over-worked, etc., etc. Turns out he flunked 2 drug tests. Why not man up and say what's really up? Character weakness, that's my prob w/Ricky. Now he wants back in because what?? Catching up on Shawn Kemps baby factory record, are we?? Child support is a bioootch!:roflmao:

This just shows how Saban is changing his coaching style to fit the current situation he is in...At LSU or MSU, he would not have taken a chance on potential like RW or DBo. He would have looked elsewhere for players with less off-field issues. But here he is with the Fins, and he recognizes the business end of things. We have invested 2 #1 picks and money on RW..he has proven he can carry the rock...He has issues, but now seems to want to get back on the "normal" bandwagon (Plus, he owes the Fins $8.6 mil unless he returns and at least willingly shows up). Letting him come back is a business move that 1) potentially helps the team, 2) recoups some of the draft investment in him for the team, 3) recoups some of the money invested in him. These are things that CEO types do, even if they didn't cause or start the problems. Just because he wasn't here 3 years ago, doesn't mean that as the coach/GM, he isn't responsible to recoup what he can for this loss. The same things apply to Boston since we invested money and time in him for him to not play a down for us.

Folks....talking about RW and Dbo returning is business. Saban's business. I personally could care less about either one of those guys...they've made their beds and should have to lie in them, but if Saban sees this as a way to recoup some team losses, even though he was not the reason for those losses...I'm all for it...
