Yes it was a suprised move and a very fast one at that. IMO Saban wanted somebody that has spent alot of years in the NFL to help him out with situations that he didnt have to dealth with before. He wanted a guy that knows his ways around the leauge and a guy that knows talent when he sees it. So thats why i think Saban hired Randy because of those reasons.

That makes sense, since Saban is green. But why not do this shortly after being hired by the Fins as the HC? I mean, if you want a certain GM why wait until all the major free agents and the draft to pick him?

what kind of poll is that?

the tread is "will they be as good as bellicheck and pioli"

but then have the poll options completly diffrent??

but for a real answer:
noone knows how they will do, but bellicheck has set the bar really high. so the odds are agenst them.

I am guessing because he wanted to experiment with Spielman to see if that is the right GM. he wanted

I dont know if it will help you guys, it just doesnt seem like he did that good a job in New Orleans.

Just reading about Mueller he dosen't seem like a great guy. I don't know, I mean he seems almost underhanded.

i think of Saban as a straight forward kinda guy, he's not afraid to tell you how he feels. Mueller, from reading the opinions of the Saints fans, seems to have his own agenda. That dosen't seem like the kind of thing Saban would put up with.

But you never know, I mean , they wouldn't have brought him in if they couldn't work together would they?

I'm just kinda surprised that they hired someone so soon after Speilman, or why not fire Speilman months ago and have Mueller draft for the team he's gonna be running. Kinda confusing.

you seem to read alot more about the dolphins then the bills whats up wit that

Speilman was locked in due to his contract. Speilman is a good talent evaluator, I dont think too many people disagree with that so it is good to have him around for a draft but regardless Saban has the last say so it doesnt really matter whether they waited till after the draft. I just think they had a high priced scout in Speilman so know Muller is going to have almost a year of saban before making any decisions so by then he should know what saban is lookin for.. Oh yeah and the SAINTS SUCk they have a wishy washy organization so that has no baring on my opinion of Mueller.

Hmm, isn't Muller just a high price scout as well..since Saban has final say so..
:shakeno:

This is hard to predict, but I sure hope so. I think it was a great move by Saban hiring Randy Mueller and I'm really excited that he's our new GM! :cooldude:

We all hope so, of course. But it's far too early to tell. Belichick and Pioli have won 3 of the last 4 SB's. Let's try to keep our excitment to a reasonable level.

Can Mueller be the yes man that y9ou would think Saban is after.

I don't see two being able to work together.

We'll see. Mueller probably wouldn't have taken the gig if he didn't think he could co-exist with Saban. Mueller knows full well what he's getting himself into.

Well, to guess that the Saban/Mueller marriage will be as successful as BB/Pioli is really a stretch...They may be, who really knows, but that is quite a standard to be judged against. And lets face it, the BB/SP has had quite a few things go just right for them. As far as the working relationship goes, that's simple...either they will hit it off or Saban will be looking for another guy or Mueller will quit. Saban doesn't seem to be the kind of boss who'll take too much in the way of "flack" from his subordinates.

But to guess about them being successful as the Pats, that's a stretch...
