There's no proof that Feeley or Frerotte can accomplish more on the field than Sage can. There is proof however that Sage can accomplish more on the field than either one of them....
Sage, although getting most of his work against 2nd and 3rd string defenses, has made all the throws, and as a result moved our offense out of the dumpster. He's got a great ball, and I can't imagine how he could be any worse than what we've seen from Feeley / Frerotte.....
We need a QB that can hit his WR's when they're open. Sage has done it all pre-season long, and most of his drives have ended with points on the board regardless of who it's against. Frerotte overthrows, and Feeley hits the defensive player in stride for a TD. Nothing has changed from Feeley, he's the same bonehead he was a year ago. It's time for a change though, and Sage gives Miami the best chance to win IMO....

You have to remember that although he's playing against 2nd & 3rd string defenses, he's only got 2nd & 3rd stringers around him for protection & to hand or passthe ball off to. He's making the best of what he has around him and what he's got to work with. It would be different if he was in with the 1st against the opposition's lower stringed player, but he's not. He has the same quality blocking, rushing, and recieving for him, as he has chasing him down. I say put him in the 1st string for some reps in practice, see how he does.

I couldnt agree more. I posted this same response on another thread or earlier page (I cant remember). My main gripe (which negates the ever popular "he's always been the 3rd stringer for a reason" response) he has always been consistantly GOOD vs whatever O string he's played with and against. Has he gotten the nod to start over the other QB's in the past out of fairness? NO! The only time I remember him getting the nod was due to weak arm Fiedler being injured and at the same time Feely playing like major crap. With some key injuries at that time and a season lost THEN he's put in and struggled and people dub him a scrub? C'mon. Us Sage supporters are screaming for him to get a FAIR shot.
My definition of FAIR:
- Start him before our 1st string offense players get injured (not a banged up O line and a sidelined Boston and a ditching RB)
- Start him over the other 2 QBs due to performance not injuries and put him in as the default
- Don't take how much money we shoveled towards AJ and Gus into concideration.
- Take his seniority into account. If his time isnt due, I dont know when it will be.
I watched the replay of last night's game (after watching it live) and I'm sure I am not the only person who saw the 1st stringers eyes lighten up and how focused in they were when Sage was under the spotlight. They watched with more intensity, hope, and interest than you normally see from the sidelines. This was all prior to the 1st and 2nd TDs Sage threw.
