Saban says O-Line problems can be corrected

I know its a preseason game but why wouldnt u look at gamefilm and get a feel for what the bears like to do? Not sure its a big deal but it seemed like a really silly thing for a team to not even look at gamefilm of a team they were going to play against, scrimmage, practice whatever.

I'm sure they did to some minor extent. Saban said all the blitzing "really wasn't in character with what they had done" [paraphrased].

Once again, preseason is ALL ABOUT INDIVIDUAL EVALUATION - with the goal of developing efficiency as the preseason games move along.

I'm not saying that you're having this misconception, but it seems EVERY FRICKIN' YEAR we have the same GD forum flip out over preseason games. It's obvoius that most of the vocal folks don't have a clue what preseason games are for.

No teams really gameplan in the preseason.. I think the only game that some teams do plan for are around the 3rd preseason game.. Maybe the second.. But the first is RARELY gameplanned for.

Skape;

Does it take a gameplan to play your position correctly....or brains? The way the Bears O-line played against the Dolphins D....one has to wonder....maybe our guy's just aren't too bright.

This sounds exactly like Dave's excuses. How do you go into a game and not have ways to protect your starting QB? It's not like Brian Urlacher was pulling up on his hits.

believe me Houck will not let our o-line look like that in the regualr season only thing im worried about is the CB position

teams change so much from year to year there was nothing to study

I am sure they went into this as a scrimmage, game planning this early into Pre Season takes too much time out of what they are trying to work on, plus they let some of the veterans go early so as to be there for Marino's HOF induction. Next week is another game and there should be some improvcement, after all teams start of 0-4 in regular season, and everyone is ape sh1t and then go 11-1 the rest of the way. I say giveit some time, may even need the entire season to get on track, oh well I look at the big plan and know it will take time.

Saban addressed this specfically. He ran as "greendog" - disguising what he was doing until a back cleared out, then went in unopposed.

i guess Bears didnt study the Phins either.. yet managed to protect their QB avg 4.2 yds per carry, 9.2 yds per catch and zero sacks..

dolphins still got a long way to go..on both sides..

No, we just didn't blitz the hell out of our players like they did to us.

They did play together for a year and was playing in the same system as last year.

It's the first preseason game and an extra one at that...

That's why they didn't look at any game film. I think this first game is being blown way out of proportion from just about every sports outlet that I can think of.

When you have a new system, new coaches, new players, you got to take baby steps and from all accounts Saban's camp has been more about teaching technique, then scheming.

I wasn't impressed with last nights peformance overall, but as long as there is progression from week to week I'll be happy.

In the long run, this team will be much better off because of the attention paid to details and fundamentals. (Which is the staple of the NE system)

I would be shocked if we're all not pleasantly suprised by this team's progression when the 4th preseason game roles around. Especially when we actually see some gameplanning and scheming.
