Saban says O-Line problems can be corrected

They did play together for a year and was playing in the same system as last year.

Chicago is under Offensive Coordinator Ron Turner who was hired in Jan....its a new system...also have a new Oline coach Grossman talks about learning this new system for this year....on the bears website...

Funny I'm not worried about the line near as much as I am worried about Howard getting burn every deep play.

I am ok with last nights game. We didn't play real well, but that is expected for the first preseason game. Look at it like this, this game was an extra game, so the real preseason begins next week with Jacksonville. We already have a game under our belts, so we should improve next week and continue to improve over the preseason. Preseason is time to shake off the rust, and it is nice for Saban's rookie season to get an extra one.
Very good point, I do agree with you!

I agree that was a lot of blitzing - even Al & John were mentioning that there was a lot of blitzing. I'm still excited about this upcoming season - I think we'll be in good shape by the end of preseason, barring any major injuries.

Did Al and John even realize there was a game being played? Based on the great amount of inane babble coming out of the booth last night, I thought they felt their job was to entertain the viewers with mindless drivel.

No teams really gameplan in the preseason.. I think the only game that some teams do plan for are around the 3rd preseason game.. Maybe the second.. But the first is RARELY gameplanned for.

i agree because we dont know what kind of game plan they are going to have because you cant look at last year a whole lot and try to prepare 4 a team with new players so i agree it will take a couple of games 4 we start trying to figure out what kind of schem they are going to use but i think our QBs and WRs done realley well our trouble is going to be at cb that was where they were killing us:confused:

Something else to consider... the OL seemed to play better as the game went on. Whether you attribute that to "our scrubs are better than their scrubs" or adjustments made by the coaches, or the players actually learning on the fly, is a choice I leave up to you.

But Saban did specifically mention in his Press Conference that the coaching staff made some adjustments to compensate for what the Bears were doing. Take that for what it's worth.

Well, if both teams don't gameplan, doesn't it become talent vs. talent??

If so, we clearly lack talent in the secondary......

I agree, Lloyd. All I was looking for last night was bursts of obvious talent, not as much schemes or coaching. The talent level of this team is severely overstated by the vast majority on this board. Other than David Boston, the answers were mostly discouraging last night.

The OL is simply not athletic enough. Period. Positional manuevering or changes in position coaches will not have enough impact to overcome basic lack of ability. I tried to watch the OL last night as if evaluating another team, one I had no rooting interest in. There was almost zero explosion or quick feet among the starters. Carey doesn't display the agility or body control of a LT, not even close. His body positioning during pass blocking doesn't resemble a LT at all. I admittedly didn't focus on Hadnot enough. Save that for this week.

On D, the premier teams will obviously pick us apart if the regular season strategy and apparent ability resembles last night's. Looks like plenty of easy wagers of against Miami and the over when we're playing top echelon QBs and opponents. You'll never lose both bets because we'll surrender gobs of points. I have no idea why we insist on playing the CBs so deep when you have virtually the rest of the defense lining up on the line of scrimmage in kamikaze mode. When top QBs see that lineup, they'll comfortably check off to quick outs or slants, leaving plenty of room for one-on-one big play certainties versus our vulnerable DBs. Tom Brady had to be salivating if he watched last night. If we're going to feign aggressive, do it on the outside as well, no worse than medium depth with the CBs.
