Saban's Rating Through Day 1

All things considered ....

We probably had the best draft in the league.

Saban gets an A.

You don't get an a or A+ yet because non of these jokers have played a down yet.

You got alot of potential on the first day.

losers.
So then no one could get an A, and therefore there would be no point in A being the highest grade.

B. The players he picked up sound like they'll do well.

HOWEVER...
You can run the ball all day long and stockpile the receivers, but if you don't have a pitcher to get the ball to the catchers, then the catchers become worthless. So when somebody says "upgrade the offense," they're OBVIOUSLY referring to QB. This I believe Saban has yet to address. That is why he gets a B.

Now, if he picks a QB capable of competing for the #2 (or #1) spot out of TC and not just TC fodder, then I will bump it to an A-, preventing it from becoming an A again because of the overemphasis on defense (tell me we haven't seen that drafting strategy play out before).

And what did the Bills get?

Btw, name calling won't get you far here.

The guy actually made another thread where he congratulated us for our picks, so i figure whe is more like playing around.

I give Saban an "A", although I would have preferred a trade down but it may have not been possible.

Ronnie Brown - Looks like a complete package and seems like a decent human being.

Roth - Intense hard working and athletic. What is there not to like?

Crowder - He was someone I wanted in the 2nd, since he was sitting there in the 3rd...wow. Carried a 1st round grade.

Considering the clusterfluck that Spielman left him with I am plum impressed.

I don't see how Saban could have done any better. Definitely an "A".

For him unless they are drafted by the Bills obviously. :D

Although I love Saban in the draft so far, if in the second day we don't get a QB he gets a B-. If he does get an Orton or Macpherson A++++++++++++++++
Sorry, but I want a young skilled QB out of this draft.

....did you see that one game where he was pumping up the team and he was screaming so loud he passed out?? .......

Its all IMO.
Yeah that alone just screams out "Great Leader" to me. :shakeno: But after all that is MO.

B+

These players are tremendously competitive and will restore plenty of that glory era intensity. As someone else posted, that is the underlying theme and certain to continue.

But no way I'm applying an A. An A implies top 10% or thereabouts. We are an underdog to wind up among the top 3-4 drafts in this crop. We have had 3 picks while many other teams have more than that.

Caddy will emerge as the best back in this draft. We're automatically downgraded by not realizing early and longterm evaluation is more appropos than the flavor of the moment, i.e. Ronnie Brown.

Roth is an excellent player, very versatile and the type other teams consistently unleash against us. The best summation came from a Michigan fan: Roth is a pest. I preferred Khalif Barnes but that's irrelevant.

Crowder plays a bit tall and upright for my taste and somewhat stiff in the hips. I thought he was a liability on pass coverage. But no questioning the disruptive ability in the backfield, or his tenacity. Anyone who nonchalantly dismisses his off-the-field problems is foolishly ignorant of the potential trouble ahead. I've read stats that indicate brushes with the law among college athletes are significantly more likely to be followed by further trouble, than non-athletes who have had similar collegiate problems with the law. In football it's especially dramatic. I know I have that link someplace but right now I can't find it.

BLITZ!!! Unleash yourself on this guy!!! I think I'll take Muck's advice on this one. :D

A-

That will go to an A+ though if we can get Hawthorne in the 4th and a solid safety prospect in the 5th and magically pull Jason or Vince outta the 7th.
