Sage and Brock have earned a shot!!

And wouldn't you agree that Jags unit in the 4th quarter was their lowered tiered players (3rd and 4th string)?
yes but you said that Sage has earned a starting opportunity and that Berlin hasn't and you said Berlin hasn't because of the fact that Berlin played against bad players but Sage and Brock have been playing with and against the same level of players and in the Jag game they played against the same exact players. So how has Sage earned more then Brock?

Rosenfels has earned the right to at least start one preseason game and see how he does with the starting line. Brock Berlin has also performed great. He should get a chance to go second, or start the next game. Sage was the best QB last night, and Brock was the best Monday. This is not a Frerotte and Feely bashing thread. I just think that the young guys have really stepped it up. Two times Brock has led the offence down the field in the two-minute drill, three times if you count the INT. Feely and Frerotte looked confused against the Jags. Both the young guys looked calm, and in control. The Dolphins get an extra preseason game this year; these guys (Sage, and Brock) should each get a go with the starters. If they are looking this impressive with the second and third stringers I’d like to see what they would do with the starters. Sage and Brock both look comfortable under center, and did not look ruffled when pressured. These are traits that I would like to see in the starting QB.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Berlin and Rosenfels were playing against marginal NFL players. Frerotte played against one of the best defenses (with an excellent D-line).
Look how great Pearman looked for the Jags against our scrubs. By your logic Pearman is a future star in the NFL. Look how good Chicago's scrubs looked against our scrubs on defense.

Pearman looked really impressive and I don't think our back-ups on D are that bad

At least we should see more of Rosenfelds and Berlin. I can't believe how well Berlin is playing, IMO. He looks like a different guy from his UM days (except for a couple of flashes). Is it possible that he's getting better coaching now and if so, what does this say about Larry Coker who just got a 5 year extension? :(

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, but at the same time, let's not fall behind either. The jury is out on Feeley, he's had his chances just like the others, and thus far looks like the least qualified QB on our roster...

It's time to move forward. The recent play from Rosenfels / Berlin allow us to do that.....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Because he's been in the league a few years and actually has started a game in the regular season. He's shown in practice he's worth keeping around. Traditionally the starter never plays in the last pre-season game so Sage just might start that game. Especially if they're seriously condsidering him for 2nd string.

The 2 days I saw Berlin practice he looked terrible. I was actually surprised he made it far enough into camp to suit up for a game let alone play. You may think these preseason games are a joke but the coaches are evaluating every snap and decision the QB's make. Being that Miami hasn't named a starter yet do you really think they're going to start Berlin with the first string and takes snaps that could have been used evaluating Frerrotte and Feeley?

I get your point but Berlin could always be the type of player who does well in the game but practices terrible. alot of good players do that, it's not necessarily a bad thing

There is no way in hell they are good enogh to start, They will be good back ups.

I've been keeping my mouth shut about the QB issue but I have to comment on this. Feeley has not only looked like the least qualified QB on the team, he has also looked like friggin Rain Man or a deer caught in the headlights out there. Sage should be competing with Gus for that starting position with Feeley battling with Berlin to make the team. The two strongest arms on the team are Gus and Sage so A.J. doesn't even have that in his arsenal against them in competition. As far as playing smart, well, it appears as though A.J. is out in the cold again. How the hell do you attempt to throw the ball away towards the sideline and have it interecepted?!?! How do you get an intentional grounding call in a friggin preseason game? Let's face it folks, Feeley is as dumb as a box of rocks. If he wants to have any ties to the Phins, let his girlfriend try out for the Phins Cheerleaders.

Isn’t this even more reason to see of they can perform, and be as effective against the starters.

Exactly..........you move up the ranks. You show you can succeed against the players you're put up against and then givin' a shot to see if you can enjoy the same success vs. even better players.

Can't they just allocate Berlin to the practice squad for a year?

In a different season maybe but not while the coaches are still evaluating who the starter should be. There's no way they'd take those reps away from Gus or AJ when Berlin has no chance of being the starter.
