Sage Is My Pick For Qb!

he may have played against mostly reserves vs. the Falcons... but he seems to have a better feel for the recievers then feeley and frerotte! he has always been overlooked and i think its time he gets a chance to show that hes better then a 3rd string! i want sage throwing the ball for the fins! :D

he gets that chance every day in training camp, and no...he has not been overlooked. The coaches have looked, and up until now at least, have decided that he's nothing more than a 3rd string QB.

Ok, lets do it....and Sage starts to show his true 3rd stringer side, will you be calling for his head? Who will we start then? I mean come on man, I understand that you want a decent QB at the helm, but Sage is not the answer for the season.

Sage will get you as far as a nickel gets you to put something on lay-away...nowhere fast.

we can bring in tom tupa. that will solve our qb and punter problems

he has more poise than your typical 3rd stringer. he decent footwork and a nice delivery

when i think of a 3rd stringer, i think of either someone who's old and trying to stay in the league or a player who is very young and has a long way to go in terms of slowing the game down

i dont see those things form sage

EDIT: i also think 3rd string should be revolving door where you bring in projects you think may have potential. if you wana say sage is past that point, then cut him and bring in a new project

Purpose of 3rd string is to be there when your 1st string and 2nd string QB go down with an injury, and mostly there to hold kicks.

As sad as it may be, AJ and Gus give us the better chances at winning games. I personally don't totally disagree with giving Sage a shot, but to biased on your support to start him based on a game against 3rd stringers and players that won't make the team roster, is not a very valid supportive reason behind a start Sage thread.

if thats the case, and it very well may be, then cut him

news flash.... FEELEY AND FREROTTE WONT GET US ANYWHERE EITHER! it would be harmless to experiment with Rosenfels

im not saying the fins should start him, i just think a decision should be made about him: either hes good enough to have a future in the league or he isnt.

3rd stringers are a dime a dozen

Yep, lets flush any hopes of having a improved season by starting a 3rd string QB...yep thats harmless. Yep, lets pay two QBs a sum load of money just to ride the bench and eat at our cap, yep lets start a 3rd string QB because he can show some shine against 3rd stringers and still manage to make poor choices when throwing the ball against 3rd stringers.

except for the fact that the previous coaches and coordinators of the dolphins who were interviewed all admitted that the reason he never started was politics.

so..... now that a new regime is in, hopefully "politics" won't keep us on this track that we "have" to start Gus or AJ. Start the best man for the job. If it's Gus, then oh well. Gus it will be.

the fins have had him for 3 seasons at 3rd string! why havnt they cut him if hes not good enough? there are not alot of 3rd string QBs in the league so they must keep him for a reason. im not saying he should start and play every game this season. just work with him and play him once or twice and see how he matches up against feeley and frerotte! see if he can handle the pressure!

Now your making some sense. It seemed like you just wanted to give him the nod at starting QB and let him ride the ship out for the whole season. He is a very good 3rd stringer, he can come in and manage the games when needed, but to be able to hold the team for 4quarters of play is not something he is ready for IMO.

314yrds passing, 2tds, and 3INTs with us not all that bad for a 3rd stringer, but I just honestly don't see him stepping up and proving week after week that he can be our man....he might be a guy that takes sack after sack because his stats show 3 rushing attempts for -10yards, so maybe he hasn't started because he has no pocket presence and can't scramble as well as our other Qbs(and I'm not saying AJ or Gus are great scramblers).

I don't really care which one of our QBs lands the starting job. They are all pretty bad. However, through this year's minicamps and training camp and even through the preseason games in which Sage has performed well, he has remained buried on the depth chart. If he was indeed capable of being a starter in Saban's eyes, why has he not at least moved up to the #2 spot? Maybe that will change in the next few days....maybe it wont. But the point is that up till now at least, THIS YEAR's regime hasnt been impressed enough with Sage to move him out of the 3rd string job.

yeah i totally get what your saying! im saying that with our crummy QB situation it wouldnt hurt to give the guy a try. I mean look at Feeley, he got the starting job last season and where was he before he came to MIA? a back-up in Philly! So if he could get a chance to start then Rosenfels is just as qualified!

But remember that AJ got the nod last season because Rick S. shipped a 2nd round for him and well, Jay Fiedler's welcome ran out so we went with AJ because he was pretty much are only chance.

Only reason AJ is getting attempts to start this season is for the simple fact that we spent a 2nd rounder on him and we didn't get a QB this year(other then Gus).

Theres a diamond in the dirt once inawhile, but I think thus far, Sage has just been a peice of glass covered in mud. If there is the drive in him and the coaching staff sees it, he will get atleast one shot...probally near the end of the year if we aren't going anywhere.

i dont think Saban will wait near the end of the season to give him a shot. i think Feeley and Frerotte will give him too much of a headache in the first half of the season and thats when he will give Rosenfels a shot

Will probally see him in games we are getting blown out in the 4th quarter or in games where we are blowing the other team out in the 4th quarter.

I'm pretty much done beating this topic with a stick :redx: because I believe we've covered almost every aspect of it. It was nice debating with you man, I look forward to your post in the future and maybe even going a few rounds with ya in another thread sometime :ko:

Take care man and keep up the goo debating and sticking to your guns with a something you feel right about.
