Bring instant credibility to the team and the fans. Bleeds aqua and orange, I also would have a strange feeling about how RT would somehow get better with him in the building everyday. I doubt Marino would be in the building and not talk to RT about how he's playing.
A football czar is the worst idea for a franchise. If you don't trust the GM or head coach to make the right football decisions why keep them employed? A third person will only complicate matters and delay important decisions. It would be better to fire Ireland and let Philbin handle everything. For 2014.
Haven't we been down this road before? I do think this is the best thing for Ross, who does not know the game and want to interfere like Al Davis, Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder. The problem is who do you trust overall? What if that guy sucks? How do you know if it is him, the GM or coach?
The Dolphins I watched on the field this year were not lacking in a football czar. They were lacking in good players and smart coaching.
I mean, I get it. The team is dysfunctional. It's always been dysfunctional from a football/business perspective. Those two parts of the team have their headquarters in different parts of town and are frequently at odds. Now we know that the football side is dysfunctional within itself. Somebody needs to come in and fix it.
But let's not use that as an excuse not to fix what actually ails, here. And what ails is that Jeff Ireland is a sub mediocrity and Joe Philbin -- along with Mike Sherman and especially Kevin Coyle -- are just regular mediocrities, and that's not good enough.

Not every base. He hasn't yet isolated Jeff Ireland as the chief problem that needs fixing first and foremost. And he won't. This scenario is just his latest where Ireland keeps his job.
What a mockery. I would accept Marino being in charge of everything though, kind of like President of Football Operations, like what Pat Riley has with the Heat. Both GM and Head Coach would answer directly to Marino.
But what I don't like, is that we are even considering this in the first place. Just fire Jeff Ireland and get another GM
Knowing Ross, he is making this into some sort of embarrassing game of price is wrong. Matt Millen, come on down, your the next idiot for the Miami Dolphins!
I love Marino, and he's the reason I'm a Dolphins fan. Personally though, I think he'd be a disaster as football czar. He got cold feet the last time, and I don't see what other qualifications he has.
