Salguero: Ross may hire football czar

A football czar is the worst idea for a franchise. If you don't trust the GM or head coach to make the right football decisions why keep them employed? A third person will only complicate matters and delay important decisions. It would be better to fire Ireland and let Philbin handle everything. For 2014.

it has worked great for the Broncos.

The Broncos might very well be one of the worst teams in football without Manning. And it didn't take some stretch of genius for Elway to go after him.

They won a playoff game with Tebow the year before Manning got there. They are good.

They backed into the playoffs on the back of a very strong defense, and then beat a banged up Steelers team at home. The defense was putrid this year (I forget how it played last year). You really think Kyle Orton or Brock Osweiller has what it takes to make up for that?

If Ross gets Marino this whole organization changes in one day. It's why I think it'd be highly unlikely. We'll hire a scrub like Mangina before we do the right thing.

Honeslty none of those names are appealing. Don is 80 and marino as he says wont want the hassle. Carl Petterson or The Mangenius? Kill me now

I'll step up to the plate and take one for the team.....I'll take the job if offered!!!

I'd love for Marino to do that.

Bring instant credibility to the team and the fans. Bleeds aqua and orange, I also would have a strange feeling about how RT would somehow get better with him in the building everyday. I doubt Marino would be in the building and not talk to RT about how he's playing.

Marino may be an icon to the city of Miami but I honestly don't see him as the leader of a franchise. John Elway was a Stanford grad; high intelligence. Marino doesn't seem to me to be very insightful when speaking on CBS. I may be wrong, I just don't see him as being anything more than a figurehead who would get the position because he's loved by the city and the franchise.

i disagree.. i understand your logic, but listen to mine. All this would do is to take foot-side decisions out of Ross's hands. Besides him selling, isn't that what people want? I would love Marino, but don't think he would take it. i think Pioli is the guy i would like out of this list.. has a good track record. Rebuilt the chiefs..and did a good job with Bellichick with the pats.

God please do not hire Marino, please!

The last thing I want is a guy that quit on this franchise once already. If he wasn't ready for the job before, I don't trust he wants it now.

Plus what the heck does Marino know about running a football franchise?

Now if it's just a ego filling position, then Marino is the perfect fit IMO.
