Salguero: The reason the Dolphins did nothing on Monday

Sad thing is, by the time Ross pulls his head out of his a**, the best candidates for ALL positions will be hired by other teams. Dig in, the next 10 years will be as cold as the last 10...

Ross wouldnt be a billionaire if he was an idiot. Everyone should just chill out. This is not Madden. People tend to make bad decisions when they let their emotion get in the way. I believe in Ross. Afterall, he invested alot of money on this team that most of us wont even earn in our lifetime combined. He's not gonna let his investment go to waste.

I am not sure Ross was caught completely off guard but I do agree it's a big decision and after beating NE I think he had every intention of bringing everyone back. Like most of us fans I think he felt Miami was on a roll and we controlled our own destiny. Then they laid an egg in Buffalo, but the weather was horrible. Not happy but a reason. Ross still not thinking he needed to make a change, because now Miami is at home against the Jets who they crushed earlier in NY so there is no way they lose to them at home on the last game of the season with everything riding right?

I think most of us felt that way and by the way the coaches and players reacted to that game they did too. It's ok for us as fans to think that way, but Ross as an owner and business man shouldn't be thinking that way. He should always be thinking three steps ahead. Therein lies the problem, he is as big of a fan as we are. The best thing Ross could do it to hire a Czar, President of Football Ops, or GM that he gives complete control and trust to and lets them run the organization. At this point I would be fin with Carl Peterson being in charge of getting the right people in here.

I really do think Ross is torn. Did he never think this reality could happen, who knows, but if he did shame on him and it should tell him he needs a Football person running this organization.

Let us keep a few facts in mind:
1. Ross is a hands off non football owner. He doesn't try to jump in like Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder and make football decisions. This also means that it's difficult for him to know who to trust, who is good at their job and who isn't.
2. He trusted Ireland and Philbin. Whether he should have or not is another story, but he trusted them. They fed him their lines and he bought them, as many other people here did. Two weeks ago, we, like Ross, were happy with the job they were doing (not all of use, but some). If
3. He should not rush his decisions. If he truly trusts these guys and people like Dungy, etc... think they are doing a good job, then he must keep them on board for at least one more year. If he decides to fire them, it must be because he thinks he can find someone else to do the job better.

The problem is Ross does not know football, so he perhaps was trusting Ireland. Now, how do we/he know that Peterson can be trusted?

Just feels like he is being advised to wait until the league completes the investigation and the results are made public to avoid any possible legal issues. Its the only thing that makes sense to me.

Someone's obviously giving him advice, that's how he knew to get on a plane and go talk to Harbaugh. And for the record, I had no problem with him sniffing around before he fired Sparano, it just got leaked because he's inexperienced with it. But as a businessman, he's not an idiot, like you said. And it turns out targeting Harbaugh was spot on. We just need to do it AGAIN.

Philbin is over his head, just like Cameron and Sparano were. Only, Cam was a smart offensive mind and got a job in Baltimore. If Joe Philbin was fired right now he'd have no job offers. None.

I have no problem cleaning house with Ireland/Philbin. But the failures of both, spilled over in to the other person's job, as well. If Philbin had a better draft to work with, we might not be at 8-8 right now. At the same time, Ireland hit on the FA's like Grimes, and his acorns like Clay worked out, and he handed over the QB that Sherman wanted, and those players were mysteriously good enough to beat playoff teams, yet couldn't beat Buffalo or the Jets, or even score more than 7 points. Think about that.

So if I have to bet on it, Ireland talks in Ross's ear like he always does, and keeps his job. He points out that he handed Philbin everything he wanted, that it was Philbin's decision to get rid of players Ireland already had on the roster, like Bush, Fasano, Dansby, Vonte Davis, etc. It was Philbin, Sherman and Coyle's decision to focus on stripping the ball instead of tackling, and to focus on speed and finesse on the offensive side of the ball, instead of blocking and running the ball.

I don't have a clue what will happen, but I'd bet Ireland stays. And if he doesn't stay, then I don't see how the new GM can possibly come in here and conclude that Philbin and Sherman did a bangup job. The new GM should fire them. If he doesn't, it's purely to have continuity. At the very least, Sherman goes and some other assistants go, and Coyle might even go.

Nicholas II of Russia has actual experience working as a Czar before the revolution (he probably inherited the job like Bob Kraft inherited a cheese factory).
Rather than regurgitate Carl Peterson or Bill Polian as prospective czars, let's look at someone who is younger than Carl and Bill and doesn't need expensive health insurance and on the job training. Jerry Jones styled his Dallas digs on Nicholas II palace, so you know he has class.
True Czars are harder to find than a needle in a haystack or a black pearl in Beluga caviar.

Maybe after polians first draft finheavens very own WV, could make a WV'S GET REAL BILL POLIAN LIKE A BOSS THREAD

People tend to make bad decisions when they let their emotion get in the way
Emotion??!? lolwut?!? There has never been anything more well reasoned and substantiated by factual failures than firing Ireland today.

Plus, it's not that we lost to the Jets, it's HOW we lost to the Jets that gives everyone, including Ross, pause about the direction of the team and organization. Except for the Bills game, we fought hard in every game, so it would be natural for anybody to expect us to come out fighting against the Jets with so much on the line. We didn't and came out flat! As I am typing this, I am still shaking my head in disbelief and I have nothing on the line except my love for the Dolphins. Imagine how Ross feels. The fact that he is evaluating everything in a rational, methodical way has my respect because, if it were me, heads probably would have rolled on Sunday. :chuckle:

Here's my 2 cents on Ross. He bought the team as a toy imo. He's not a football guy and never will be. I actually think he's agravated with his team. The Dolphins are NOT his priority, they're just a toy to him. I believe he wants to win, sure. But I don't believe he wants to spend too much time trying to do it. If he keeps everyone it'd tell me that he just doesn't care. I know he's not an idiot but he is when it comes to football. It's easier for him to just keep everyone and tell us we won one more game tha last year. I don't believe he wats to go thru the hasle of hiring new people to run his toy. I hope I'm wrong and he gets rid of everyone but I'm not holding my breath at this point. And even if he does, he's goin to wait too long and all the good people will be off the market already. Keep on mind there're 6 teams already looking for a new HC.

Ozzy rules!!

Not only do we have incompetent coaches, but our owner is as well. The more things change the more they stay the same. Please let me wake up from this nightmare-something I have been saying for the last 15 yrs.

Wow, this is a blatant ripoff of my article yesterday on Phinphanatic title Ross was not prepared for this. It was written and posted yesterday afternoon early. Armandos later that night. This is complete BS. Www.phinphanatic.com
