Sam Brenner=Evan Mathis

So Sam Brenner sucks? What are you saying? this thread is about Brenner and you say Pouncey is the only guy.

Why cant Mckinney be a guy for one or two more years while we draft our future? Is not Mckinney doing the job? for that matter, is not Clabo doing the job?

Anyone see the D. Thomas 5 yard TD? Clabo blocked down and created that huge hole.

you guys use that line alot.

I never said Brenner sucked. I said he could be possible answer this offseason as major repairs are needed up front. If Brenner emerges as an answer than there is one less position to fix. I am not sure where you got that from my post.

McKinnie is a FA in his mid 30's. You thinking he is a stopgap for two years is funny. Clabo has come on strong and I am not surprised for he is a high character guy. However, he is on the wrong side of 30 and I am not banking on him as a solution.

A lot of work needs to be done up front.

im down with giving Brenner a shot next year. the guy has definitely stepped up and has played pretty good

then I am misunderstanding what you are saying. But why not resign mckinney for one more year and Clabo as well? They are playing well and no injuries. Its injuries with age that should worry people.

none of this may matter anyways. We will be drafting OL.

How did samuda get a start before this guy. thays what i wanna know.

because of two things IMO.

1. He wasnt ready. He didnt fully understand the Offense and he was asked to play two positions in preseason plus shared alot of time with others.
2. He got thrown in to a situation where he knows this is his opportunity and he makes the best of it then realizes he can hang.

but draft two more G's. You can never have enough OL. competition never hurt anyone.

Its frustrating that Dallas Thomas hasn't been a solution to any of these problems. After seeing Samuda getting handled the way he did I was sure to see our 3rd round pick get a chance! Geez I guess it shows how "well" he's been doing.. Pffff and to think about all these Vol fans I know that were hyping the kid up.

That's definitely been frustrating to me. The lions and jets both took guards who are playing fairly well just a handful of picks before we took Thomas. I can't help but wonder if the coaching staff made his transition too hard by having him play and practice at LT during the preseason, rather than focus on RG which is probably where he should have been to start with, considering it was a giant hole on our line.

What is there not to understand? The prospect of finding four new linemen this offseason is daunting. If an in house candidate such as Brenner could fit the bill at guard that would be great. I do not think that either tackle is the answer and John Jerry has been the worst lineman this year. I am huge Garner fan. He should have been playing early this year. However, he might help best by being a back up.

I am not sure what is so hard to understand.

There you go again, using logic on a sports forum ...... just stop it already!!!

:brewskis:

Alot of these young guys are looking good. I think patience is something that is in short supply among this forum. Coaching and developing talent is not done over night..

You can say that again. Imagine that, players develop!

But I'd love if Brenner could solidify the position and become a worthy starter. That'd be a huge break for us.
