Ok its' a 6th. I'm not sure its' a ridiculous trade though. It seems obvious that SD and Miami both considered lemon the better QB. So what's a 6th rounder to get a better back-up? 6th rounders don't normally make most teams anyway...

Who would know him better than Houck? I'm sure if he was worth it Houck would have lobbied for it and Saban would've got him for Hudson.

I understand what you are saying and of course you can look at it that way.

I just value picks more than a tool to make lateral moves.
Saban also has mentioned many times how he values not trading away picks so this is just another reason this trade puzzles me.

Good players and depth can be had with a 6th round pick and you can package picks to move up on draft day to get a player you really want. It's just my feeling that giving up a 6th for a depth player at QB just isn't worth it.

Yeah and I can understand where you are coming from too. Its' doubtful we will know if this was a good move or bad move on saban's part anytime soon. If we keep on losing we might find out sooner than later though...
