Schedule Breakdown...who Are We Honestly Better Than??

I wrote it all in about 1 minute, so I had some typos...I've fixed them now, by the way, Chad Johnson is the backup QB for Vick...not the reciever for Cinncinatti

Matt Schaub is the backup QB to Vick. There's no one on the Falcons named Chad Johnson.

Jake Delhomme, Carolina Panthers
Chad Johnson, Cincinatti Bengals

C'mon it's really not that difficult to figure out who plays for who if you aren't sure.

ok idiots...keep reading before you write a comment about a typo...I FIXED THEM...and you all don't know crap if you think that there is one Chad Johnson in the league.

MOD EDIT: Keep the personal attacks / name calling down. No need. Please read the TOS for reference.

THey may have traded him in the offseason, but trust me, when vick went down two years ago, he played the games for him...actually his name was Doug I think...either way he played for UF and he was terrible so I've tried to wipe it from my memory so I apologize if I'm off.

I'm sorry but you don't know crap. There's only one guy named Chad Johnson in the NFL. Name calling isn't going to get you anywhere.

I have to disagree with your wins and losses. We never recovered from williams leaving last year. Before you knew it we were trading future picks for anyone who might be able to run the ball. Not to mention the first game with the Titans was so messed up because of the hurricanes.Do you remember the seahawk game that we lost in the last mine t with feely throwing the int that was returned. So taking all this into condideration we werent as bad as are record showed. So wityh a better team i think a 10 and 6 season could be a reality.:)

I think we will beat Denver, Jake Plummer is a good qb, but can be quite erratic at times. Tennesee won't beat us, we have a better D than them. They lost a lot of good players too in the offseason. I'd say 8-8.

True, they have lost some people, but a lot of analyst have rated them as having a huge off-season in pick ups and additions. I wonder if McNair will play all year too, since he's a walking bionic man who's plagued with injuries. The backup...Volek I think...he's been good too though.

That's Doug Johnson. He hasn't been with the Falcons since 2003.

What does Del Homme have to do with Tennessee?
When did Chad Johnson become a Falcon? Besides the fact that he doesn't suck.

I THINK HE HAS BEEN HANGING WITH RICKY A LITTLE TO LONG LOL

Doug Johnson yeah, not Chad. He played a game against the Eagles down in Atlanta when Vick was hurt, he really was terrible, they switched between him and Kurt Kittner because they didn't know who was worse. They drafted Matt Schaub to get a good backup, i think Johnson got released now also as they brought in Ty Detmer i believe?

Guys...
I tried this thread before, but I think I worded it in a way that incited more opinion that fact. This time, lets focus on the actual teams. I'm doing this, because I got the local radio station the other day and the guy asked me point blank...game by game...who are you legitimately better than. We went one by one and I was using classic phin homer arguements, but he bashed the opinions and said to stick with facts. So outside of using the "patriot game" mentality...where we say anything can happen...how do we beat teams that will be better than us. Not better coached maybe? But actual player against player. I'm only asking this because I want some reasoning behind the obvious madness that we will go 10-6. When and where do you see that happening?? Here's how I see it and if you question the call then I'll back it up...not just "because" it's what I think...it's what should happen on paper. It's like a regular joe playing MJ back in his day in some hoops. 1 out of a 100 games he could win, but on paper and in real life, MJ mops the floor with him right? Yeah that's right. So what do you think?

Pre-season is a crap shoot but here goes

1 Mon, Aug 8 Chicago W (QB troubles, new WRs)
2 Sat, Aug 13 at Jacksonville L (Leftwich is solid and our sec is ??)
3 Sat, Aug 20 at Pittsburgh L (Pitt is good all over the board)
4 Sat, Aug 27 Tampa Bay W (young team, cadillac will look good though)
5 Thu, Sep 1 Atlanta W (Vick will only play a tad)

Regular Season Results

1 Sun, Sep 11 Denver L (they run a ton, good qb play, champ bailey) we're not better on paper
2 Sun, Sep 18 at NY Jets L (away game, martin and pennington will be healthy)
3 Sun, Sep 25 Carolina L (They are just a man's team, we're still children in comparison)
4 BYE WEEK
5 Sun, Oct 9 at Buffalo W (Qb issues, solid run game and defense...close game)
6 Sun, Oct 16 at Tampa Bay W (aging D, Griese is questionable, gotta stop the run)
7 Sun, Oct 23 Kansas City L (OL are huge, green will have all day, Priest??)
8 Sun, Oct 30 at New Orleans W (I will slap someone who thinks we lose this game...brooks is terrible...they just spent the farm on Mcallister)
9 Sun, Nov 6 Atlanta L (defense is so good, TE, Vick...we lose)
10 Sun, Nov 13 New England W (i think we win this one, Belechick(SP?) vs saban, I think injury finally hits them)
11 Sun, Nov 20 at Cleveland W (this team is horrible all over the board)
12 Sun, Nov 27 at Oakland W (Moss will begin his cancer by now, running game is good, but so is our D, QB is out of gas)
13 Sun, Dec 4 Buffalo L (we will swap wins and losses with all the AFCE this year)
14 Sun, Dec 11 at San Diego L (face it, 12-4 for a reason last year. THey are good, LT, Brees, young good WR)
15 Sun, Dec 18 NY Jets W (Fiedler will lose it for them...)
16 Sat, Dec 24 Tennessee L (Close one, but they are also good...?? at RB, but good WR...real good...McNair is a gamer)
17 Sun, Jan 1 at New England L (we lose in the snow. No doubt)

That's a total of 7 wins and 9 losses. Not based on my gut, but based on what they have versus what we have. IF you disagree, then please back it up with comments. Not homerism. Thanks guys. Look forward to hearing ya out. :)
Once again you miss the point.......we don't know how good this team will be when it lines up opening day, nor do we know how good the teams we will face will be, thats what makes it interesting.

You can sit here all day and talk about what will happen on paper, that doesn't mean a whole lot, it didn't matter to the 1999 Rams, or the Ravens or Patriots that followed with Championships when it wasn't expected of them.

Dude, I have not missed the point, that's exactly why I've written this...to have people finally answer the 'why' question. As to WHY do they all think we should be disappointed with a season finish of less than 10 wins. I just don't get all the optimism without backing it up a bit. People are like "we're gonna be contenders for sure" and I just want some facts to back that up. I made my predictions based on roster changes, coaching factors, season finishes from last year, returning starters, skilled players with leadership, and homefield advantages...all of these actually have an impact. That's why I think if you say we will finish better then you should be able to back it up with better arguements than "dude, we will win. I can feel it."

Yes I am. Is there a big comment coming now? Something to the effect of, "oh really cause you're such an idiot?!?!" I just wanted some responses to all the optimism. I made a couple typos in the paragraphs that I wrote in a matter of seconds and so people want to keep pointing it out as if it diverts from the threads purpose. So go ahead with your insult. It's expected.

OK OK...this is what I want to avoid...you say WE WILL BEAT THE JETS TWICE...HOW??? :yell: I want some facts folks. What tells you we will beat the jets?? The writeup about Atlanta is pretty good. I agree with that, but the Defense is super solid and they have a great running game too...it's gonna be a grinder game I think. Vick blows up one week and then is stellar the next. Never know, but I think we have a shot in theory, but on paper, they have more veterans on the OL and should win.

OK, we will beat the Jets in the first game because Pennington will be playing and as of right now, it is being questioned how ready he will be for the start of the season. He is still having serious arm problems from what I understand and his arm is not that strong to begin with. If the Jets are forced to beat us primarily on the ground, they won't be able to do it. Martin is good but he is getting older and if the Jets are one dimensional, no way Martin carries them to a win over us. By the time we play them a second time, we will be gelling that much more, Pennington may or may not be hurt. If he IS hurt, FIEDLER will be in there. If Pennington DOES play, we have the benefit of homefield advantage and a defense and offense that will be clicking a lot better at that point.
